Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance
Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance is a video game that consists of 4 releasesDeadly Alliance is second attempt to bring Mortal Kombat into 3-D and stay true to the series.
Overview
Deadly Alliance has 2 main areas which allow you to test your skills to max, Conquest and Arcade mode. Arcade mode pits you up against every character unlocked at that given time, each proceeding character getting harder as the game progresses. Conquest mode has you test your button mashing skills as you try to master every known combination for each of the available characters as you try to reach the end of your adventure. As you work your way through the game you will collect 1 of 6 types of coins for each task no matter the case. The coins are one of the more appealing aspects of Deadly Alliance since they allow you unlock videos, concept art, costumes and even hidden characters hidden throughout the many coffins located in the Krypt. There are 676 coffins total each marked with a 2 letter alphabetical combination, some being empty, of course, just to tick you off.
Plot
While fleeing from Scorpion in the Netherrealm, Quan Chi discovers an army of the Dragon King's mummified soldiers. When he finds out that the army is invincible, once they are alive, he makes an alliance with the evil sorcerer Shang Tsung. However, before they could begin taking over all of the realms, they decide to eleminate the two people that could stand in their way. The first was Shao Kahn, the emperor of Outworld. They came up to his temple in Outworld with a false show of allegiance. Then, by using the element of surprise, both sorcerers assaulted him and killed him. They then travelled to Outworld by using a secret portal known only to sorceres and emperors, and attacked the undefeated champion of Mortal Kombat: Liu Kang. Shang Tsung was losing the battle, but the Mortal Kombat champion didn't expect the magical powers of Quan Chi, causing Shang Tsung to finally defeat Liu Kang. Then, Quan Chi completed a task, which had set out to do since he was defeated by Liu Kang in the last Mortal Kombat tournament: snapping Liu Kang's neck. Shang Tsung also gained something by this: Liu Kang's soul, which made him more powerful than he had ever been before.Back in Earthrealm, a new alliance was formed between Raiden and Earthrealm's most powerful warriors to try and stop this Deadly Alliance.
Konquest Mode
Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance also introduced a new "Konquest" mode, which acts as a tutorial for each character in the game, and is a way for the player to earn "Koins" in the game, which players can use to unlock extras in the "Krypt." Konquest mode is basically build on a set of Kombat tasks to complete with each character. After completing some initial tasks with Sub-Zero, the player is told to complete a set of tasks with each character, which vary from pulling off specific combos or beating an opponent. After completing the tasks, the player is rewarded with coins, where the amount of Koins you get depend on the diffuculty setting he/she chooses.Characters

The Krypt
Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance was the first game to have a "Krypt," where the player could buy things such as hidden characters, costumes, behind-the-scenes footage, etc. The way you could aqquire these was by purchasing them with "Koins," which the player earned by playing through the Arcade Mode and Konquest mode. The Krypt included 676 Koffins, with each of them in alphabetic designation (AA-ZZ). Each Koffin had a price designated by a number and color to show the player how much each Koffin costed. The colors showed which type of currency the player would have to use (Jade, Sapphire, Gold, Platinum, Onyx, Ruby), and the number showed how much of the specified currency the player would have to use.The Krypt included 11 unlockable characters, a vast number of arenas to fight in, and an alternate costume for each character. Also included in some of the Koffins was concept art, currency, videos, images and even entire comic books. Others were just plain empty.
