Following the events of Deadly Alliance, Mortal Kombat continues to bring you over-the-top, violent fighting.

Plot

In the final events of Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance, Raiden's Earthrealm warriors are fighting against the Tarkatan warriors, and, ultimately, the Deadly Alliance. The Elder Gods advised Raiden not to interfere but he defied them; on his own he challenged the Deadly Alliance in a fight of Mortal Kombat. But the Deadly Alliance was too much for one man, even an Elder God. By combining their magical powers, Quan Chi and Shang Tsung take down Raiden.

Now that Raiden had been defeated, Shang Tsung's greed made him turn against his former ally, Quan Chi, because of one thing: his amulet, which he could use to control the Dragon King's undead, invincible army. But Quan Chi was too much of a challenge, even for the mighty sorcerer Shang Tsung. With Shang Tsung defeated, Quan Chi had total control over the Dragon King's army... but not for long.
As Quan Chi stood there with the amulet in his hands, a powerful monster entered the tomb: Onaga, the Dragon King. Shang Tsung and Raiden now woke up and assisted Quan Chi in his attempt to defeat Onaga. But Raiden realized that Onaga was too powerful, so he released all his godly essence, causing a massive explosion, which wiped everything... except Onaga.

Onaga now seeks the 6 artifacts called Kamidogu to fuse all the realms into the One Being, resulting in the destruction of every single realm. The fighters who survived the encounter against the Deadly Alliance must now defeat Onaga and stop the destruction of all the realms.

New Features

  • Mortal Kombat: Deception has highly interactive stages, with multiple levels, arena-specified weapons, breakable boundaries and instant-death traps.
  • Characters in Mortal Kombat: Deception have two Fatalities and a Hara-Kiri, which is a comical way to kill yourself before your opponent manages to perform a fatality.
  • It is the first Mortal Kombat to feature an extensive online setup.
  • Mortal Kombat: Deception marks the return of Stage Fatalities, which weren't in Deadly Alliance.

Konquest

The Konquest mode in Mortal Kombat: Deception is a much more robust single-player experience than the found in Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance. Instead of basically being a training mode, players take control of a man named Shujinko who is deceived by Onaga, who is disguising himself as an emissary for the Elder Gods named Damashi, into finding the six Kamidogu for him. Finding out that  he's been working for evil all along, Shujinko now joins the Earthrealm warriors in their quest to defeat Onaga.
