An upgrade, in video games, is a practice in which a new release of a game built on the same engine with the same mechanics is produced, but does not completely qualify for a sequel. However, the content difference is significant enough that it is not considered a re-release, either.
RenderWare is an API and graphics rendering engine made by Criterion Games.
A ring out occurs when a character leaves a stage (mostly due to falling off stage because of being forced by opponent or bad timing) and automatically loses round/match. This is a common concept in fighting games.
The Roundhouse is a kick taught in many martial-arts, though believed to have originally been conceived as part of a developed fighting system by monks for Shaolin Kung-fu. Notable real-life users include Bruce Lee, Chuck Norris, Jackie Chan, and Jet Li.
Shaman are mediums between the mortal and spiritual realms. In games, they are often priests with the ability to heal via magic and crafted potions.
A ninja clan in the Mortal Kombat universe. The clan had a fierce rivalry with the Lin Kuei before they were defeated by them.

Elite and specially trained/equipped military troops and law enforcement tasked with carrying out specific and dangerous/sensitive objectives beyond the remit of regular military personnel. Many games feature special forces operators or units as protagonists or enemies.
A Stance may grant player characters access to unique abilities and attributes.
In the original Mortal Kombat timeline, a race of mutant warriors from Outworld who are aligned with Shao Kahn.
Throwing weapons include knives, shurikens, axes, darts or even explosives such as grenades and molotov cocktails.

They possess even greater knowledge than old men with beards.
The turkey call is a Bruce Lee-esque sound made by characters in fighting games (notably Marshall Law, Forrest Law and Liu Kang).
Extra objects, characters, or content in a game that can only be accessed after completing a certain task such as completing the game, or by using cheat codes.
Easily emasculating the puny jab, this devastating technique is associated with crimson geysers and leveled Piston Hondas. Favored by undead ninjas and diminutive boxers alike.
Primarily found in fighting or sports games, the versus screen typically masks the load time of an upcoming matchup. Sometimes codes may be entered here that will affect the game.
Zombies, more accurately called the walking dead, are reanimated corpses who feed on the living, and have become a ubiquitous video game enemy. They often move slowly, but can be deadly in large numbers, which is unfortunately how they tend to travel. Shotgun time!
