the mortal kombat theme is good at summoning stoked-ness. but mine sort of has trance-ish daft punk-ish influences

Very nice! I love it. I have two versions of the Mortal Kombat theme on my mp3 player, I'd love to get other versions of it too. Can we download this?

Man, I know I already posted, but this is the shit. I love trance/dance kind of music and listening to this while doing unbearable Calculus homework makes it almost bearable :D

ZOMG! Sooo awesome. The build up to the "MORTAL KOMBAT" is just sex. You have talent, my friend.

#11 Posted by Kush (8889 posts) -

Wow...that was actually pretty good. Nice job! I too am pumped for this game...except for the lackluster fatalities (from what I've seen).

#12 Posted by Milkman (17204 posts) -

By the way, you should definitely e-mail this to the Bombcast. Jeff would most definitely appreciate it.

Not a huge fan of this style of music personally, but despite that fact, it's well-constructed, dramatic as hell, and it goes to prove that the Giant Bomb community is the best community in gaming!!!

#14 Posted by hazelnutman (1097 posts) -

Agreed. Awesome build up.

Really cool remix, its pretty well done.

I love when people in the community do really cool things.

Kudos on the remix, well done.

i wanted to maybe do more with the end, (let it last longer while implementing various effects on it) but it was getting kind of long for a mortal kombat song

#19 Posted by Thrawn1 (1340 posts) -

just curious, for those of you who liked it, what kind of music do you normally listen to?

#20 Posted by pause422 (6219 posts) -

Any kind of decent paced rock music really. Definitely isn't my type of music or anything, but that doesn't change the fact that I thought it was a very well done remix.

#21 Posted by Balls (525 posts) -

damn that was pretty good! Kind of like a mix between Dragonforce and Slayer

#22 Posted by Thrawn1 (1340 posts) -

do any of you guys have any requests for a different remix? you know, not something obvious like the mario or zelda themes, but something that is simple yet has room for wide musical interpretation?

i think balls said "kind of like dragonforce and slayer" because he was answering my question:

Nice, Just curious how you went about doing this?

I could take on the world with that music playing in the background. :-)

well, it was all done on a computer using software called FL Studio. (real expensive stuff) You know, the way electronic bands like daft punk and squarepusher do it. It's a tedious process, and requires you to know about general audio engineering type stuff.
the only thing i didn't make from scratch is the "MORTAL KOMBAT" scream.

speaking of squarepusher, any fans of him out there?

AWESOME REMIX!
I normally listen to Classic Rock, but I enjoy myself some Techno and House every now and then...

I've never heard of Squarepusher, but i can definitely hear the Daft Punk influence... and even a little Benny Benassi...

You know what you should do next? A remix of some Metroid music... here's a link to a bunch of the original songs to help you out.

I'll be honest: At the beginning, I was thinking "What...the fuck....is this shit?" but that might have had a little to do with the fact my headphones were way up. Loud, bassy buzzsynths kind make my jaw bones rattle. :P

Once it hit its stride, though, it paid off. Great job, Thrawn. Don't let my initial impressions put you off. ^_^

#32 Posted by Bucketdeth (8045 posts) -

Awesome job man, what program did you use?

#33 Posted by SoulEdgeSlayer (534 posts) -

In all honesty, a mixture between Death Metal, Dance Music, Classic Rock, and Industrial music.

Also, I love your remix.  Downloaded and listening to again!

loud, bassy buzzsynths are the best "instruments" ever.
