Why does the online community hate Scorpion so much? I fail to understand why, is it because he is an easy character to use or is it because of his attacks..? He seems very versatile and has many attacks that can be chained easily.

Probably because everyone uses him online, its no fun to fight the same guy over and over and over and over and over.

It's probably because he's an easy character to learn if your starting out, and I'm guessing this is probably a lot of people first time playing Scorpion so they use him.

I haven't heard the hate.

I think Sindel is easier than Scorpion, so I find it funny that people always pick Scorpion as the beginner's character. Just about everything Sindel does can be chained into a simple, damaging combo. Maybe it's because "lol gurlz"? *shrug*

He is the Ryu of Mortal Kombat.  He's easy, he's good, and he can be VERY cheap.

Scorpion is cool as shit. I'd use him too if Kung Lao wasn't a million times better.

Hes the character people like to start out with.  I didnt play much since psn went down but after playin a few scorpions you learn how people use him and can counter it rather easy

Same reason everyone hated fighting Ken players in SF4 (they were everywhere!). Stick to what you like, and don't let anyone change your character choice. If you don't pick the character you like in a fighting game, what's the point?

I hate Smoke teleport spammers more. 

But that's not really their fault smoke has like 3 special moves. 

I don't necessarily hate Scorpion, but for gods sake, there are other people on the select screen. It's been established even before this game came out that Scorpion and Sub-Zero was going to be the "Ken and Ryu" pair. 

I dont hate player who use Scorpion. Matter of fact, I probably have a 98 winning percentage against them.

Considering the amount of time you have to waste just to get into a match it's not that much fun to run into the same character over and over.

Judging by the amount of Scorpion complaints I've seen, I guess I'm really lucky. I've logged over 150 matches and had maybe 10 or so be against him. The most common dudes I've seen have been Smoke and Ermac, and even then it's not an overwhelming amount. Also, I'm a Scorpion player, so suck it.

You should try playing as Smoke, people will literally quit during the character select screen

Well how many people go online and play with numerous different characters? When i could play on PSN, I stuck with scorpion and Kitana, and int he time PSN has been down I've been working on jade and Kabal. When im with friends, I would just hit random and go at it, but if Im going against randoms, stic with what I know.

People still dont respect the spear, kills em everytime.

It was the same in MK vs DC. I just get the impression that people just don't like Scorpion.

I use Scorpion, I don't see what the big deal is. And for the most part once I start to get bored I use other characters in king of the hill fights

was getting my ass handed to me today jumping trying out striker, smoke, and ermac. the only characters i used that really gave me a fighting chance were noob and scorpion. so while i didn't want to go with scorpion, he's kinda too well rounded not to be used by new players.

I don't hate Scorpion. I hate Smoke though, cause he can do his smoke fireball teleport move on you while you're down and then chain it to a crazy aerial combo that takes half your health while you literally can't do a single thing about it. I really hope they nerf him...

I'm hoping more hate moves to Kung Lao as people start picking him due to his tournament success so I can use my noob-friendly character in peace.

@Enigma777: Um, no. You can't block or evade a combo once it's already started. That smoke bomb is part of a combo just like any other.

I believe Scorpion has been elected as the new KEN.  Poor guy, never had a chance.

No, I think its because Scorpion has several 3 button combos, a diverse set of special moves, and is a well known series character. People who didn't get into MK until now don't have a clue who Sindel is.

Smoke is much more annoying.

I could imagine. When a definitive tier list pops up (as opposed to the slapdashery already out there), she'll probably be near the top.

@ShaggE: In the recent PDP tourney one Sonya player made it to the top 16. Of the final 8 Kung Lao and Ermac were the clear favortives, with Raiden and Cyrax also showing strong. Not that things can't shift, it's still early, but so far, those four seem to be the real competitors.
