So I was playing Mortal Kombat with the PS3 D-PAD for not even that long (30mins - 1 hour if even that) and now my thumb is starting to form a blister type mark. It's not there yet but It looks like it's forming. Have games ever hurt you, even if its something really small?

This game hurts.

Have games ever hurt you, even if its something really small?ha. you know nothing of video game injuries. try growing up in the 80's with things like the dreaded joystick waggle.Thanks."
and try playing an hour of MK2 or SF2 on the good old snes joypad. that thing was rough
The only problem i have with my thumbs is when i'm doing the Test Your Might crap...those are so dumb and malicious to do lol
Playing with the old dreamcast analog stick, with the ridges tore up my thumb. Even with those, thumb slips were the most frustrating thing while doing graffitti in Jet Grind Radio...
and I thought there were no quarter turns / half turns etc in MK? cause thats where all the pain comes from!
The NES dpad used to kill my left thumb after long sessions.
I'll admit though my left thumb hurt a bit after beating the campaign in MK in two sittings. I felt fine in a hour though.
You are weak! You must now sacrifice a goat to the gods and ask for there forgiveness and promise you will not shame them next time you play video games.
That said, the best solution to Street Fighter thumb is an arcade stick.
I got a blister from my PS3's D-pad after my first half hour playing MvC3. It was pretty ridiculous, but it hasn't happened since.
You just gotta stay loose. If you're already blistering then you're getting way too intense and mashing your thumb into the D-Pad. Pressing it harder does not make you better. I have the same problem when I've been playing for a really long time and start getting mentally fatigued. I forget to relax and end up with sore fingers and thumbs.
I had that problem, but just barely, and it had to do with the fact that I played it over 10 hours straight in one sitting.
" @AnimZero said:54% Damage. ):" MK9 told me "I suck" via Shao Kahn ): ): ): ): ): ): ): ): ):And then he landed his X-Ray and you died for the 40th time right? ;) "Then I landed an X-Ray on him :D :D :D"
Regarding the Test Your Might, this is an old trick dating back to the first Mortal Kombat game for home systems. Just make a fist and use the 2nd joint part of your hand (not your knuckles) to rapidly rub across the buttons. It works like a charm and does not hurt nearly as much as the old days.
Everyboday hurtsssssss.
I dont think I've ever had blisters from playing, I used to get them from riding BMX so I already had callouses from that so theres no room for anything else :)
After playing SSFIV pretty much non-stop for a fortnight after its release, my left thumb was a disaster. Too much mashing I suppose.
That shouldn't be happening with MK motions though.

I kinda came up with my own strategy for these, I won't start until 4 seconds are left and then start mashing away, because if i start at the beginning I'll usually end up hurting and slow down and lose lol
@Bocam said:Totally." Mario Party... That is all. "Yep. There were some mini games where you just gotta spin the analog stick around really quick.Ripped the skin off my palm and fucked my N64 controller real quick... Good times.
I remember a half-assed Superman game on the PS2 that really required some impossible button mashing/analog rotating, my cousin's thumb was left a bloody mess, skin was ripped off and blood was just everywhere.
Seriously, MK9 isn't really rough, it just takes some getting used to.
