One of the main designers behind Mount and Blade Armagan Yavuz announced that in the next update/expansion of mount and blade a new online mode as well as a map maker will become available. Up to now Mount and Blade is only playable as a one player offline game and to be honest it is pretty barran, not all that much variety and the AI is far from challenging. A online mode however will make this game so much more fun and interesting. In the intervieuw Yammuz talks about how players will be able to command their AI troops which could make some very interesting tactical matches.

Sounds cool. I really should get into M&B. I bought it in the steam sale the other week, but I keep getting distracted by other games.

I bought this game when it was on sale on Steam and have yet to play it. Maybe I'll hate it and change my mind when the multiplayer comes out.

Not only will it be online, but I hear it will also improve the graphics (which weren't so bad in the first place). I really hope the developers get a lot of support because this is one of the best games I've played recently. I'm willing to say it kicks Total War's butt and I love Total War.
