" @ThatFrood: Just tried it out a while ago, the combat is indeed janky. "Then you guys are nubs, I can get headshots from a moving horse on a guy 50 meters away.
" Er, it's 85% off.Sorry about that , I am so use to 50 % sales on steam that i must have read it wrong.
Imagine Medieval 2 Total War in first person/third person view. It also has the largest mod community I have ever seen." So what makes this game so good? "
It's actually even better than that since in Total War 120 soldiers will act as a single entity most of the time, here 120 soldiers will act completely independently of each other.
" Er, it's 85% off.sorry, I shouldn't have said "combat", I should have said "the battles" can be janky. Like when you have to move up steep hills or you drop down vertically when you ride into a river.

" So what makes this game so good? "Just the variety of things you can do. When you have completed the games tutorial you are just thrown out into the world, there is no story. You just start riding your horse to a village or a castle taking on quest and gathering people for your army. You can also go and compete in a arena as a gladiator and get extra money and gold that way. Then it is the setting. just a normal medieval world, which is nice for a change. And as @Mmmslash: said before me there is a huge community around this game and a ton of great mods.
I hope some other people can answer this question aswell.
Although, I found myself more often than not fielding an almost all cavalry army most of the time (fuckin' khergits, biiiiitches!)
But when I needed to storm a castle, I'd go over to one of my own castles, swap out my cavalry for hired blades and swadian knights (and those oh so wonderful nord huscarls) and storm that bitch.
But those Swadian Knights... Man, talk about imbalanced units. The best Calvary in the game, and on foot only outclassed by the one other amazing unit, that goddamn Huscarl.
It may not have friends and achievements, but as far as actual digital distribution goes, Impulse its just as good as steam. Better, perhaps, because of the lack of "online/offline" mode bullshit and other complaints along that line.
Should buy from GamersGate when you can, however, because it is a much better service. :)
