Yeah these games usually go under the monniker "Bullet-Hell" if I'm not mistaken... never cared for them, but the videos are quite fun to watch.

Probably the same reason people beat demon's souls.

Bullet hell games are pretty crazy, and fun to look at. At a point though it just becomes too frustrating to be much fun, with VERY precise movements required to live. But while on a normal difficulty setting it can be a great experience. For example Ikaruga before it gets insane.
