Blazing Heroes (known as "Mystaria: The Realms of Lore" in Europe and "Riglord Saga" in Japan) is a tactical RPG for the Sega Saturn.  It featured 3D grid based combat with faux 3D sprites with 13 playable characters.  Each character has two fighting styles or one fighting style and one special ability.  The storyline is pretty run-of-the-mill, the evil Lord Bane threatens to destroy the world, and only a team of 12 heroes(as the legends say) will be able to defeat him.

The battle system is very reminiscent of the first three Shining Force games being turn based combat on a grid. Characters can learn new spells and techniques mid-fight but cannot level up in the middle of a battle. Though very crude looking now, the game's graphics were considered to be impressive back in 1996 when it was released.

There are three different types of battle in the game:

    • The standard kill everything type. where the battle will not end until every enemy unit on the map has been defeated.
    • The kill the target unit type. The battle ends when the player is successful in defeating/destroying a certain enemy.
    • The A to B type. The main characters must fight their way to the exit, usually chased by enemy reinforcements.
