NASCAR Franchises

NASCAR racing made its way onto videogames platforms as early as 1990. Konami's Bill Elliott's NASCAR challenge would be the first of many NASCAR titles to be released, by multiple publishers over multiple platforms.

NASCAR Racing, published by Sierra and developed by Papyrus would appear in 1994, while EA Sports would release their first NASCAR title in 1997. Infogrames would publish Monster Game's short lived NASCAR Heat series.

EA's current domination of the NASCAR market of the current day comes as a result of a exclusive contract negotatiated with NASCAR. Old series' like NASCAR Racing and NASCAR Heat have become articles of the past as EA has been able to create NASCAR racing games unopposed since 2003. Although, EA Sport's exclusivity with the NASCAR license is set to expire at the end of 2009, giving other companies prospects for future titles.
