NCAA Football 10 Review
NCAA Football 10 is the next annual release from the NCAA Football franchise by EA. Once again you'll be able to coach your favorite team to victory, create a player and make him Heisman worthy, play online, or play this years round of mini-games. Now just to make sure that no one is confused we're talking College Football here, something that fans, especially in the south need a healthy dose of during the fall.
Graphically this game has either slipped from last years version or stayed dead on last years. There are really no improvements. Sure there might be some slight movement improvements, but the fans look like they were stolen from the PS2 version of the game, the sideline players are all doing the same thing, which I think shouldn't happen in a PS3 game, and the overall look isn't all that stunning.
The music in the game is the fight songs and marches from different schools, and I can't really complain since most of the music pumps up the player with adrenaline, especially after an exceptional play. I still really wish that I could hear the commentators during the road to glory (that's the play as a single player) option.
The controls are something that doesn't change, and its a good thing because if it isn't broken, there's no need to fix it. You're going to be issuing the majority of your commands with the help of the X button, and then using the different buttons accordingly.
The name of the game is college football. I really can't say that this game surpasses last years. It is interesting to have a little "TV segment" on my player each week when playing Road to Glory, but the green screen work makes Erin Andrews look like she's a stick figure. You can also tell during that segment the choppiness of Kirk Herbstreit's little talk. Overall if you love college football, and video games, you're going to get this game so that you can have the latest and greatest. There is a lot more connectivity with EA's online servers to keep track of stats and points, but to be honest the game should come first and there's nothing really that different except for the roster.
I sound like a broken record on this game because its hard to see something completely new in this game, when there really isn't. If you want to game go get it, chances are that you've already gotten it with the season so close at hand. In my opinion this is just another example of why roster updates should be sold for a price, instead of having to buy a whole new game. This game gets a 7.7 out of 10.
