    The New California Republic--formerly known as Shady Sands--is the capitol of a federation of towns in Northern California.

    Originally established in 2142 as the small town of Shady Sands, the hamlet greatly expanded under the leadership of Tandi, president of the New California Republic. Renamed in 2186 and established as the capitol of the growing coalition, the city was home to some 3,000 people by 2241. 
     
    The capitol is home to both the president and vice president, Congress and a large portion of the standing NCR army. The main industry in town is brahmin herding, leading to an influential coalition of barons and ranchers known holding a great deal of sway in local policies.
