Last night in Nintendo Direct, Satoru Iwata announced a new game from Super Mario franchise. It was New Super Mario Bros.2 which mean it will be 2D / Platformer. This game will be release in August 2012 for 3DS. However, this announcement shows only four pictures and some information about release time. you can see pictures below:

I love these games and don't really mind the use of 3D models for the characters, however yes the backgounds, colouring and general style I've always thought were very bland and boring.

Everyone's overlooking the apparent fact that the raccoon tail helps Mario fly the way it's supposed to: i.e., like he did in Mario Bros. 3

Yeah, that would be awesome if they did that (+stereoscopic 3D). Anyway, I hate to say it, but I'm probably going to pick this up, the first one was good, and there's really not an abundance of 3DS stuff...

Let's just hope they keep her (his?) transparent stomach that was retconned out of later games for no reason.

Looks decent enough, nothing worth buying a 3DS over but still Mario has the tendency of being good.
