Kind of an unintentionally funny post over on Sony's official
SOCOM site...
If you've already got SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Confrontation, how many games have you played so far? Did you sit down yesterday morning and play until right now? Are you playing while you read this? Have you taken a break yet? How many matches have you played so far?
Imagine me blankly staring at this box while wearing the headset and you'll understand the level of fun people are currently having.
I bet they wish they could, like, unpost that one. Because the responses seem to range between "I'm waiting for the PSN version to come out tomorrow" to "ZERO BECAUSE YOUR SERVERS ARE DOWN" to "AAAAARRRRGGGGGHHHHH CLASS ACTION LAWSUITS AND OTHER THINGS THAT KIDS SAY ON THE INTERNET WHEN THEY DON'T GET THEIR WAY."
I'm currently somewhere around the "zero" count, myself. After spending some time downloading a day one patch and deleting the save file that was somehow corrupted by said patch, I finally got in and am now looking at the menus.
However, if I may "liveblog" for a moment here, now I'm getting a pop-up message every minute or so that says "An operation could not be completed because there was an error communicating with the server. Community features may not be available. Game rankings and statistics may not be recorded."
And, lastly, I was able to join a game, where I was immediately bombarded with people angrily complaining about the servers. Then I got disconnected and dumped back to the title screen during the second round.
I guess I'll keep trying.

Ok, maybe it's not that great since you can't use it in the game yet but .............. it's PSN.
Didn't something like this happen when the MGS online beta came out?

From what I understand, before all hell broke loose and everyone bombarded the servers at once, it was running quite beautifully. Luckily I won't begin playing it until tomorrow, when my PS3 returns from Service. Hopefully things will have smoothed out a bit.
Oh and the new headset is awesome, or so I'm told.
