Also: Guitar Hero: Van Halen Is Happening

One more thing...

Halen, bro! Halen! Woooo!
Halen, bro! Halen! Woooo!
For whatever reason, this didn't make it into this morning's press release about DJ Hero, Guitar Hero 5, and Band Hero. But Activision has been going around this morning, confirming Guitar Hero: Van Halen's existence. Finally.

The game's been a sort of open secret for awhile now, but now we've got some actual details. The game will contain a bunch of Van Halen songs, and like the other band-specific GH games, it will also feature songs from other artists. Confirmed acts so far include Queen, Weezer, blink-182, Queens of the Stone Age, and The Offspring.

Because when I think of Van Halen, I think of blink-182. They're pretty much the same band, really. Well, whatever, as long as Panama is in it, it'll be fine.

Worried Sammy Hagar haters will be pleased to know that an Activision rep told Joystiq that the game "is definitely Van Halen, not Van Hagar." The game will be released in the back half of this year.

Reaaaaly not a fan of Van Halen. Sorry everyone. Please don't hit me!

I will probably play this, but I will probably not pay for it
Mooshuon May 7, 2009 at 12:35 p.m.
Right, because we totally need more stupid Guitar Hero games.

"Because when I think of Van Halen, I think of blink-182."

That's exactly what was I thought when I read this. Thanks for stealing my comment, Jeff. Anyway, this will be dumb.

I love Van Halen, but I can't buy another music game ever.
RHCPfan24on May 7, 2009 at 12:38 p.m.
I love Van Halen, but I don't know how many musics games I can buy anymore. If it is a BIG, 50-60+++ (get that, I want more than 40!) song set, I may consider it. Otherwise = no.
VWGTIon May 7, 2009 at 12:41 p.m.
Oversaturation.
Meltbrainon May 7, 2009 at 12:43 p.m.
Yeah, don't give a rats ass about Van Halen. Sorry folks. "Don't hit me!"

Queens of the Stone Age? Sold.
TrueEnglishGenton May 7, 2009 at 1:20 p.m.
Not a fan of Van Halen, though I know many are.

Makes financial sense I guess, rather see them stick to downloadable CD's though.
PlasmaBeam44on May 7, 2009 at 1:21 p.m.
Too many Guitar Hero games.
Golyon May 7, 2009 at 1:23 p.m.
i don't know if i'm more excited about queens of the stone age being there or the actual game.
TheGreatGueroon May 7, 2009 at 1:24 p.m.
Haha, yeah. Blink 182 and Van Halen. Of course! You can't have one without the other.

It's funny to me that their only announced game of any interest today wasn't included in their press release. Now excuse me while I look into this Band Hero game. From the title, I just assumed it was a Rock Revolution style rip-off. Since Activision is actually behind it, I guess I should see what its all about and try to figure out why they'd make this game when GH now has band instruments... Oh wait, wait, I know! MONEY!
Ben_Hon May 7, 2009 at 1:31 p.m.
Wait... So there's Guitar Hero 5 AND this?  Or is this Guitar Hero 5?  Either way they are releasing way too many.  It seems like there's 5 GH games for 1 Rock Band game.
Zeromuson May 7, 2009 at 1:36 p.m.
What Queen songs are there I wonder?
TheClapon May 7, 2009 at 1:36 p.m.
QotSA.  Awesome.
Equal_Opportunity_Destroyer497on May 7, 2009 at 1:41 p.m.
Blink 182 and the Offspring should never even be mentioned in the same sentence as Van Halen. The warts on Eddie Van Halen's ass have more talent.
KidVelascoon May 7, 2009 at 1:41 p.m.
Will it have Beat It?
Meatsimon May 7, 2009 at 1:45 p.m.
And I thought Madden every year was too much.
