Aykroyd Wants Ghostbusters Game To Lead Into Third Movie

I wouldn't think a new Ghostbusters movie would be such a hard sell on its own merits, but what do I know?

Focus on the vodka.

Dan Aykroyd--perhaps better known in some circles as Dr. Raymond Stantz--really wants to make a new Ghostbusters film. And to hear him tell it, one of the crucial first steps to getting that film made is releasing Ghostbusters: The Video Game in June. Aykroyd hopes the game will spur a new wave of popularity and demand for everyone's favorite '80s paranormal comedy series, which will in turn grease the wheels with the studios who might potentially bankroll the movie. Honestly, you tell me Dan Aykroyd wants to do a new Ghostbusters and I assume that's the sort of thing you call a "done deal," but what do I know? Hollywood is a complex place.

Atari recently held a Q&A session with Mr. Aykroyd in New York City, where he talked about the ways the new game may help a new Ghostbusters get made. He also held forth on a variety of other topics, including working with Bill "The Murricane" Murray, his Crystal Head vodka, and, yes, working on the forthcoming game. We'll have a video feature from the session for you in the near future, so stay tuned for that.

I also grabbed a couple of Atari producers to chat about the X360/PS3 and Wii versions of the game, and shot the whole thing with our fancy new handheld HD camera. This is live and uncut, boys and girls! Actually, it's neither of those things, but at least you can see a healthy selection of the title and transition effects the latest version of iMovie has to offer. I made it myself!

Look for more of this less-than-professional video content on Giant Bomb in the near future. There's only so much Vinny to go around, you know? Count your Vinnys, people. A Vinny in the hand is worth two in the bush. A rolling Vinny gathers no moss. A Vinny saved is a Vinny earned.
