Bethesda Secures RAGE Publishing Rights

EA Partners replaced by id's new overlords.

Wrong game, dude.
Wrong game, dude.
ZeniMax Media, the company that owns Bethesda and acquired id Software earlier this year, has announced that it has also acquired the publishing rights to id's upcoming shooter, RAGE. Previously, the game was scheduled to be published by Electronic Arts as part of the EA Partners label.

ZeniMax stated that the development of RAGE hasn't been affected by the change, and really, why would it be? Just expect to see the Bethesda Softworks logo staring at you from shelves when RAGE finally hits.

All of the released stuff on RAGE looks pretty cool, but at this point I'm trying to approach it the same way its developers are. I'll get excited about it when it's done.

Hmm. Alright. Don't see my Bethesda has to be the publisher, EA would do just fine. But I do like Bethesda, a lot.

Maybe this will be the first good game from the new Bethesda publishing arm.
MarkWahlbergon Dec. 15, 2009 at 3:47 p.m.
Every time I see the name Rage, I think it's gonna be a remake of that old overhead-view alien shooter game where everybody exploded into huge bloody chunks when they died.
Complexon Dec. 15, 2009 at 3:47 p.m.

I think there better off with Bethesda instead of EA.

Primal Rage? I may have a copy of that lying around somewhere.
buzz_clikon Dec. 15, 2009 at 3:48 p.m.
This certainly seems like the project to help dissipate Bethesda's less-than-sterling run on the publishing front.

Semi-sequitur: with that image you've given me the idea to make a game mash-up of Primal Streets of Rage.
wolf_blitzer85on Dec. 15, 2009 at 3:50 p.m.
Ima play some primal rage now.
addictedtopinescenton Dec. 15, 2009 at 3:52 p.m.
If the game stays the same, I dont give a fuck
VisariLoyaliston Dec. 15, 2009 at 3:53 p.m.

If only Bethesda was publishing Primal Rage.
InFamous91on Dec. 15, 2009 at 4:01 p.m.
they're finally publishing a game that has potential.
Systechon Dec. 15, 2009 at 4:06 p.m.
Probably their first smart publishing choice.
clientkilleron Dec. 15, 2009 at 4:11 p.m.
If Bethesda is publishing it does it mean its going to be crap like rogue warrior and wet? :P
MildMolasseson Dec. 15, 2009 at 4:19 p.m.
Primal Rage on the VC would be awesome. Or a reboot. Someone should get on that.

And Time Splitters and Bloodstorm.

Actually, any fighting game from the mid-90's that has even a mild-level of notoriety
Binman88on Dec. 15, 2009 at 4:21 p.m.
Thankfully they're only publishing it. As long as the only part Bethesda plays is packaging and marketing the game, it should turn out fine.
Nasar7on Dec. 15, 2009 at 5:04 p.m.
I know Beth is trying to diversify and expand but all I really want from them is The Elder Scrolls V.
Scooperon Dec. 15, 2009 at 5:07 p.m.
Rage is one of the only games I'm excited about for 2010.. Not alot out there I'm looking forward to.

Dig Deeper into Rage

id Software's Rage combines first-person shooting, vehicular action, and "open but directed" exploration to tell the story of Earth's wretched civilization after a cataclysmic meteor strike.
