He's all AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH TROPHIES.
He's all AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH TROPHIES.
First, there was going to be a trophy update. Then, Ben Judd had to come out and say that it just wasn't going to happen. But maybe that was all just a devious smokescreen. Regardless of all that, Capcom and GRIN have gone back into its acclaimed downloadable release, Bionic Commando Rearmed, and added in trophy support on the PlayStation 3.

Or, at least, they will be shortly. The patch that adds trophies hasn't gone live yet. It'll also come with a new difficulty setting that adjusts where you respawn and how your arm acts in certain situations. It sounds like it'll make the game a lot easier. The fixes and changes will also be coming to the Xbox Live Arcade version of the game.

A bit more detail on the changes and a comment contest can be found over at the official PlayStation Blog.

Haha, fucking finally. It's weird because I just booted this game up on Sunday to see if that trophy patch ever came out and I was sad to see that it didn't. This is great news...

Ahhhh, I might just re-install it then.

Probably not though.

Well, thats some dedication! Rarely do we see developers support live arcade titles so long after the release and with a thing like trophies. Solid work GRIN! Too bad BC sold poorly. :(

Dont worry capcom, we don't mind you being late to the party. Fashionably late some might say..

Damn, finally! Didn't they announce trophies for this like in September? What the hell? That's good news though, since I never finished the game; was waiting for this update forever so I can start anew.

Honestly though, good news and good to hear; I'll definitely be playing when it goes live.

Hmmm, PS Blog site is down.  Have you established a term for "GiantBoming" a linked website?  Nuked?  Geebee'd?  Blown?

It's because they're giving away free codes for Capcom games.  The site is overloaded.

Well, I just hope this turn of events won't topple my high score. ._.;

Anyway, this is nice to see. Maybe a patch for the retail game is coming soon too?

It's been a long time coming, but I'm glad it will finally be coming out. Amazing that Grin's best game would be this one, a small $10 downloadable game that out classes all their $60 releases.

Hell yeah, finally! Maybe later they'll lower the Bionic Commando price and I can play it with my awesome RAD skin

Hahaha, I did the same as you VWGTi xD
Glad they are adding both trophies and a couple of fixes, though I like the current diff (though its mostly due to the platforming and not the actual enemies)

That's nice, but I'd still rather they fixed the multiplayer in the new retail title. :(

Any idea on sales for Rearmed compared to BC (after a similar time on the market)?

In a way, I'm glad BC isn't selling.  I hope other developers take note of the two different approaches to reviving really old franchises and the comparative success of each.  What we want is just a fresh coat of paint and the conveniences of modern gaming (saves, online multiplayer etc.); we (evidently) don't want our childhood favourites forced into a modern gameplay style they weren't meant for.

There are a ton of classic games I would love to see given the Rearmed treatment.  Syndicate and Lemmings always spring to mind for some reason.

Ahhh. trophies and Home, Sony's big, "We fucked up but we won't admit it" ideas.

I really don't see how you can say that about trophies. They've been a massive success to PS3 owners - regardless of whether they're a ripoff of other ideas or not.

As for Home, all I'll say is that it's pretty busy when I go on it.

Whatever, on topic, I'm really pleased Rearmed is getting trophies. Any excuse to play that game rules.

This didn't have trophies already? O_o

Well, good luck because the achievement/trophies in this game are really hard.

I thought it was standard to have trophies, o' well...
