Burnout Paradise Re-Release Coming In February

Criterion announces a new roll-up of its latest car crasher.

Party over here, crash cars over there!

Criterion has announced plans for a new retail release of Burnout Paradise. Subtitled as The Ultimate Box, this update will contain all of the existing free downloadable updates, as well as an all-new Burnout Paradise Party mode that will allow up to eight players to compete in a controller-passing fashion.

This new party mode will also be available for purchase for owners of the existing version of Burnout Paradise, marking the first time that the game will see some non-free downloadable content. The new pack will also add extra achievements and trophies to the 360 and PS3 versions of the game.

There will also be changes to the main game, including the addition of a "restart race" option, something that a lot of players seem to have complained about up to this point. I'd say "hey, you should just learn the city and stop whining about it," but since I had to play the game for like 20 hours before I felt like I knew the city, I can see the value of making the game more friendly to new players. That seems to be the point with the other announced change, easier control for the game's first handful of cars.

Burnout Paradise: The Ultimate Box will be released on the PC, PS3, and 360 in February 2009.
