Capcom Reveals Ace Attorney 5, HD Versions on iOS (And Android!)

No details on the big sequel just yet, though.

UPDATE: Turns out all of this coming to Android, too. Sorry! My bias glasses were on.

Ace Attorney is an unfortunate blind spot for yours truly, but Capcom’s about to give me an excellent reason to catch up.

Andrasang reports that Capcom has announced a high-definition version of the first three games for iOS.

Oh, and a little thing called Ace Attorney 5. There aren’t any details about the game, though, including what platform it will end up on (3DS seems likely) or who the main character will be.

Of course, this all assumes Capcom decides to translate all of this for us. I’m still waiting for Ghost Trick, which showed up on the iPad in Japan, to come out here. What gives, Capcom?

Main character is Bad Box Art Mega Man.

They are also coming to Android.

I really hope they go back to Phoenix Wright as a main character instead of Apollo. I thought the first 3 games were a lot better than the fourth one.

PugsterGlasseson Jan. 30, 2012 at 12:45 p.m.

Now if they would add Apollo Justice to iOS, I would be 100% pumped!

Hailinelon Jan. 30, 2012 at 12:45 p.m.

Ghost Trick was released on the DS in North America, . It is possible to purchase this game and play it in English without the use of an Apple-branded device.

As for Ace Attorney 5, I have no idea who the protagonist will be, but my guess is that it won't be Phoenix. Not after what they did to his character in Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney.

I feel the same way. The fourth one was a train wreck, from its characters to its plot to... everything. And the DS-exclusive mechanics were forgotten as soon as they were introduced, for crying out loud. If they go back to Phoenix and forget about the Apollo Justice fiasco, I'll probably buy a 3DS. The lineup is beginning to look nice nowadays.

Calaveroon Jan. 30, 2012 at 12:47 p.m.

Wonder if they'll keep Apollo Justice. Seems like I was the only one who actually liked him, even though it felt like he was just a side character in his own game.

Ezekeilpurgeron Jan. 30, 2012 at 12:51 p.m.

YES YES

Sogemanon Jan. 30, 2012 at 12:52 p.m.

IT WILL NEVER COME OUT IN THE WEST BECAUSE IT'S NOT A FIGHTING GAME THEY CAN MILK TO DEATH!. Won't come out, just like the 2nd Miles Edgeworth game.

But if it comes out there will be a 2nd game (after Luigis Mansion) that would make me buy a 3DS. I'll buy one at 3 (or when the revision with better battery comes out)

And I doubt those HD versions will look much better. Capcom is lazy.

Ghost Trick showed that Shu Takami can still write a hell of a story and make you care about characters. I like what they tried with Apollo Justice, but there were a lot of missteps, and they relied too heavily on Phoenix in the end instead.

As I said yesterday: If this don't come to NA I will punch someone in the dick. Same for PW vs Layton.

Ha. I agree with this sentiment wholeheartedly. Ghost Trick is a great game. No reason to wait for it to be released on a different device when you already own a device that can play it.

Not sure I'd call it a fiasco or a disaster, but there was definitely something lacking. Besides new characters, I mean. I think the thing that bugged me most was Phoenix's unseen transition to bumbling, high-strung attorney to hyper-mellow cardshark. It might as well have been a new character.

They half assed the transition between "generations." Apollo Justice could've been better if they were willing to sever all ties with the previous trilogy, kind of how Days of Ruin did with the Advance Wars trilogy. Would people still have been pissed? Sure, but at least you give the new characters a chance to shine instead of overshadowing them.

I'm sure he's aware of that. It looks much, much nicer on an iPad and the gameplay/controls translate over perfectly.
