Crackdown 2 DLC: Keys To The City, More Weapons, More Abilities

Some of it is coming for a price.

A chunk of free and pay-for DLC will be coming to Crackdown 2 "soon," according to publisher Microsoft.

Said packs are set to share the same name (Toy Box), so think of the paid part of the content as more of an expansion on the free stuff. A result, perhaps, of neither really having the amount of meaningful content to be able to stand on its own.

That said, the best part of free content should should feel familiar to those who seriously get a kick out of Crackdown 2's ridiculous style. Keys to the City mode, the beloved debug cheat menu from the first game, is indeed coming. And similar to last time, it'll give you the ability to do insane, game-breaking stuff. A few examples of what will be available from the menu in Crackdown 2 are as follows: time of the day freezing, unlimited access resources like ammo and health, skill boosting, and weapons and vehicles spawning.

There's a bit more to free part of Toy Box. Specifically, the DLC adds a level six agility reward that gives your Agent's rockets in the bottoms of their boots. It also adds in a competitive online mode called Vehicle Tag, which we'll assume is similar to Rocket Tag but with cars.

The paid content expansion is a mash of different additions for the cool price of 560 Microsoft Bones. It's a list that includes two new vehicles, five additional weapons, two avatar awards, eight agent suit colors, and a total of ten new achievements that total to 250 points. A more precise listing is available just below.

Vehicles
  • The Agency ATV - a so-called mini-tank
  • The Squad Chopper - A four-player helicopter

Weapons
  • The Mass Driver - a "turreted gravity bending weapon"
  • Portable Launch Pads - portable launch pads you can drop wherever
  • Stickler Grenade - rubber grenades that sets off several explosions once thrown
  • Thrusters - allows a vertical thrust
  • Mags on Characters - allows mag grenades to be attached to dudes

Avatar Awards
  • Green Suit and Green Helmet (once completing The Rocketeer achievement)

Suits

  • Peacekeeper
  • Terror Firma
  • Agent Orange
  • May Contain Nuts
  • Minti-Sting
  • Mega Agent
  • Haz Mat
  • Dem Apples

As you can see, Toy Box adds in a lot of flashy and fresh but not a whole lot of substance. Will it be enough to get you to jump back into Crackdown 2? Or have you already moved on?

Agent Armour colours...bleh....They'll never replace the nationality diverse and awesome Agents from the original Crackdown.

Nothing in the world can make me pop in this game again

Hm well it's a surprising price all things considered..Microsoft has a habit of charging to much for this stuff.

I'll check out the free stuff and see if i feel like getting back into crackdown i suppose.

Alright! Finally, dlc for a game that's not as good as the first one and the first one wasn't that good to begin with.          Epic-Fail!!!!  I always wanted to type that.

Trying to get people to like pay for DLC is like trying to get your kids to eat vegetables. You can hide it among some free crap, but that doesn't help much.

game just got way too repetitive for me and the fact I was 6 beacons away from beating it just made me want to stop playing

Would you look at that. Stuff that should've been in the game in the first place that might've helped it seem more like a sequel instead of a practical carbon copy of the first game.

Colors!

They sure know how to adjust an RGB slider!

I'm a DLC whore so I'll probably pay for the other stuff.

I think this game needed DLC a lot sooner.  I still have my copy but it pains me to even think of putting it in as I would really only be hunting orbs & going for achievements.
DXmagmaon Aug. 23, 2010 at 10:54 a.m.
i would buy it all. to bad this game ain't on ps3.

What if someone pointed a gun at your brain and demanded that you play Crackdown 2 for five minutes or meet your maker?
Colinon Aug. 23, 2010 at 11:42 a.m.

Too bad this game isn't worth a rent...
