E3 2009: It's On!

The ESA has pumped out a list of exhibitors for this year's E3, and most of the players you'd expect to see all up on the show floor are already up in there.

The ESA has announced a partial list of exhibitors for this year's E3, which will take place in early June at the LA Convention Center. Yes, we are precisely four months away from the start of E3 2009. That's kind of soon! We should probably start planning our coverage a bit so it doesn't all sneak up on us.

I expect our coverage will bear a passing resemblance to this...

...except it will be bigger, better, and probably more bad-ass, as well.

That should dovetail nicely into what E3 2009 is shaping up to be this year, because the exhibitor list makes it sound like it'll be achieving the three B's, too. Here's the list provided by the ESA:

  • Activision Blizzard, Inc.
  • Atari, Inc.
  • Atlus U.S.A., Inc.
  • Bethesda Softworks LLC
  • Capcom Entertainment, Inc.
  • Disney Interactive Studios, Inc.
  • Eidos Interactive
  • Electronic Arts, Inc.
  • Epic Games, Inc.
  • 505 Games
  • IndieCade
  • KOEI Corporation
  • Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc.
  • LucasArts Entertainment Company LLC
  • Majesco Entertainment Company
  • Microsoft Corporation
  • Midway Games Inc.
  • MTV Games
  • Namco Bandai Games America Inc.
  • Nintendo of America, Inc.
  • Rebellion
  • Sega of America, Inc.
  • Serious Games
  • Sony Computer Entertainment America Inc.
  • Sony Online Entertainment LLC
  • Square Enix, Inc.
  • Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc.
  • THQ Inc.
  • Ubisoft Entertainment
  • Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment Inc.

You might notice a few publishers missing from the list, like D3, NCsoft, and Valve. Also, Activision and LucasArts bailed on last year's show, but they'll be in the house this time. Exhibit space is still up for sale, so keep in mind that this isn't the final list.

OK, let's throw it open with the most speculative question you can ask about video games... what do you want to see at E3 this year?

It's a long shot but I would love to see some live Giant Bomb E3 coverage :P
Pazyon Feb. 2, 2009 at 11:53 a.m.
I hope its a lot like that, its very funny and I love the fact you can get indepth conversation with the people who make the game and I can actually hear them!

I'd love to see some announcement from Valve on the Half Life series. What the plan is after Episode 3 or when we will get to see some information on the much anticipated Episode 3. Surprised they aren't on the list right off the bat, but like you said it isn't a final list.

Some information on BioShock 2 would be sweet. I'm hearing some nasty rumours about multiplayer in the game, say it ain't so Jeff...say it ain't so....

Look forward to the GiantBomb crews coverage of E3, last year was a blast and this year I expect big things now the site is established and stuff is going well for you all. Just remember swag makes good prizes for competitions :P I hear the Mods have been doing a lot of work lately.....just incase you need some ideas on where or who to send the swag too lol.

Only probably more bad-ass? So it might not be more bad ass? That's a huge letdown.

So does this mean that all the efforts to make it smaller were essentially just a failed experiment?

E3 09 coverage should a thousand more trippy loop cuts at the end!

I have a huge wishlist.  Any information on Jagged Alliance 3, Leisure Suit Larry: Box Office Bust, new creative IP's, more RPG's for the consoles or the PC, and a firm release date on FFXIII would be amazing.  I'd also just like some news from the big 3 on what they have in the cards for years to come.

But for me, the biggest hook is the surprises.  I don't need bombshells, but a surprisingly good-looking game announcement or a previously-unannounced sequel suits me just fine.

Just do what you all do, and I will be satisfied.
Serkeron Feb. 2, 2009 at 12:20 p.m.
The Darkness 2 please.

  • Metal Gear Solid 4: Existance
  • Valkyria Chronicles DLC
  • RA3 on PS3 (if it hasn't already been released(even though even if it's been released in U.S.A. it still won't have been released in UK so that way I get no game and no E3 showing))
  • The Legend of Dragoon 2
  • Street Fighter iv plus 3

That's about it for me thanks, not to much to ask I don't think.
