As if today wasn't already scary enough, EA has revealed that there's an update in the works for Mercenaries 2: World in Flames that will feature Governor Sarah Palin and Senator Barack Obama as playable characters. Here's a trailer showing the two candidates in action, courtesy of G4.

I'm all for a little political fun-poking, but my concerns about this are two-fold. For one, we've got less than a week before the polls close, so Pandemic doesn't have much time before this whole fleeting undertaking becomes completely irrelevant. Secondly, Mercenaries 2 gets away with a pretty unflattering take on modern Venezuela by not taking itself too seriously, but there's something a little unnerving about watching these potential leaders of the free world blowing up oil rigs in a country with whom the US has got some pretty tenuous relations.

How the hell did Pandemic even get Obama and Palin to agree to let themselves appear in a game that promotes violence?

Ah, you zany Americans. At least you got a healthy sense of humour about how ridiculous you can be.

Something so very disturbing about this...I think I would get a kick out of watching McCain kill people with his bare hands but these two choices don't seem right.  Ugh...I hate it...keep my video games and my politics seperate.  It is like sex and food...I like them both but they never EVER should meet.

Yay and remember to vote Obama! (Because as this game proves he does have militiary experience!) :)

No really people just vote for Obama ok?
