Fallout: New Vegas Patches Are Coming

Bethesda plans to drop patches for all three versions of the game.

Fallout: New Vegas has a bug or two. There are crash bugs, animation bugs, scripting bugs, and even bugs that make dogs moonwalk. But while the game has issues, it's important to note that it's still a really good game. It's just, you know, buggy and will often test your ability to ignore flaw.

This will change with time. Speaking with us this morning, Bethesda PR man Pete Hines confirmed that Bethesda is working on patches and updates for all three versions of the game. Specific announcements about these patches are coming, too.

"We are currently working on releasing patches/updates as quickly as possible for Fallout: New Vegas, for all platforms," Hines said via e-mail. "Announcements regarding the patches are forthcoming."

Numerous bug videos are hitting YouTube at the moment, as players are actively uploading their favorites. I'm partial to the moonwalking dog video, but The Exorcist rotating-head vid is pretty rad as well. What a way to welcome someone in the game, eh? Anyway, I've embedded these clips just below if you'd like to take a gander. I suppose you could also try to experience hitches yourselves in our own copies of the game, but you better do it fast.

Boom...still haven't finished 3 yet though.

I want them to keep the moonwalking dog.

Yea, forget delaying the game just a little bit so that our money goes towards the full experience.
Instead, give us some broken code and promise us a patch "at a later date".

I guarantee you there will be a PC mod that fixes these issues before Bethesda does.

I also need to finish Fallout 3.

What do you mean? I've only experienced one restart-forcing glitch so far?
dudewhaaon Oct. 20, 2010 at 10:05 a.m.
I thought when xbox certifies a game they test for this kind of stuff? I think its pretty awful that Bethesda knows these bugs are there from launch and as soon as the game comes out they acknowledge it.

Also the rotating head thing is HILARIOUS especially as that is like the first thing you  see when your character wakes up.

Severe LOL at the possessed NPC.

The rotating head clip is gold!

The rotating head is hilarious.

That rotating head glitch is pretty awesome, I have to say.

Jesus Christ that head one is creepy.

Well good! It's nice to know that they're planning on fixing issues with their clearly busted up game. Having the frame rate drop from 65-7fps every time I buy something on a core i7 rig is a bit ridiculous.

That's still better than waiting weeks or even months to announce a patch. While I personally haven't had any problems with the game yet, I'd like to be able to stop worrying about what might happen as soon as possible.

That rotating head video is fucking hilarious, by the way. Also kind of disturbing....

I'm pretty sure moonwalking dog needs to be a feature

That was quick...

In my game once i set animals on fire and they die, they stay lit forever. I don't want them to take that out

At best, this article is making a poor case for the need of any patch. I understand that there are some really bad bugs that cause roadblocks to gameplay, but the videos are awesome.

@DukeTogo: You got that right... really creepy, especially if you're feeling sleepy. Woke me right up!!!!
Boots33on Oct. 20, 2010 at 10:17 a.m.

Just a thought, but remember when games used to actually be finished when they were released?  I'm starting to feel like we should be refunded $10 if a game has to be patched within he frst week.
