- Adjustments to make Public matchmaking faster, especially in the single player party and the four player party case. Some of these adjustments should be felt immediately and some will play out over several days as our update enables us to reduce player segmentation by reducing the number of servers required to do matchmaking. This will increase the number of possible matches available for you to join.
- A tweak that should prevent us from losing some of our additional detailed stats data that we gather for gearsofwar.com. Due to the large number of concurrent matches, our stats gathering servers were not able to collect data for every single match played. The Xbox LIVE leaderboards are 100% accurate but our existing stats web pages may have some missing data prior to the update.
- A fix to address the issue where some players were unable to start the story-based campaign if Xbox LIVE was down or unavailable.

Maybe when I get bored with Left 4 Dead I'll bother with Gears of War 2. They really lost me after the intolerable match-making, though. Great game and all, but . . . That really rubbed me the wrong way and will take awhile for me to get the bitter taste out of my mouth.
Not that L4D matchmaking is perfect, but as long as I don't care *what* I jump into, I can be in an actual game with other actual people in twenty seconds.

Too true, too true. I like that it only took two weeks to fix a matchmaking issue that should have been ironed out long before the release of the game, but I want updates for smoke grenades, chainsaws, and (perhaps) the shotgun. The real issue I have with Gears 2 (now that the matchmaking is hopefully going to go a bunch faster) is the way that when I play at 3:00am, I get stuck with a bunch of UK people, and I get no kills because I have 1-2 seconds bullet lag. Seriously, I don't give a crap if I have to wait a little bit longer to play against people who won't lag me like crazy, I just don't want to continue lowering my kill/death ratio because of something that is outside of my control.
