GTA IV PlayStation 3 Gets Trophies Next Week

Why earn trophies when you can just take them by force, right Niko?

Sony posted an update on its official blog this morning with information on an upcoming Grand Theft Auto IV patch for the PS3 version of the game. The patch will add full trophy support with 51 trophies in all.

The full trophy list hasn't been revealed, but the ones that have been listed so far appear as achievements in the 360 version. 51 trophies sounds like "the full 360 achievement list plus one new platinum trophy for getting all the rest" to me.

We'll all find out together next week, as the patch will be posted for download on Monday, October 27. Like other trophy patches, you won't be awarded any retroactive cups. So get ready to clear out those save games and start cracking.

There goes another reason to replay the game from the beginning. Why won't Sony include the trophies at launch date? Some people aren't exactly excited about playing a game ALL over again just for trophies, especially when certain things are REALLY hard to do on games that take hours upon hours to finish. At least the trophies could recognize, from your save files, which ones you have already achieved and just give those to you.
But for GTA IV, there is always an exception.

because GTAIV came outbefore trophy update. more companies are releasing trophies for a game on launch date (especially first part games) but EA is started to do it with dead space as an example, but atleast at the middle of 09 every game will be released with trophies.

I'm having my first experience with any sort of achievements system on PS3 with Mercenaries 2. I don't know if I'm missing any by not playing over from the start, but I've received three thus far. Hey, I didn't ak for them, but when they pop up, it feel's good.

I hope I don't have to start over again to get some trophies in GTA IV. I wish It would just rain trophies once the update was downloaded and I load my save game.

Speaking of Dead Space, I am getting a lot of trophies and all on PS3, but I think I am stuck. I am on Chapter 7, where I am to destroy some fields around a huge asteroid, and apparently shoot it into space I believe. I keep trying to plant my bomb onto the asteroid, and as soon as I land I get smacked and die. I slow down the engine running it too. I have looked at a FAQ telling me to not land there, but to somehow land on the spinning bars?! Is that what I'm supposed to do?

Anyone got that far yet and could help?

I beat this awhile ago and havent picked it up since, so the whole having to start over thing is fine with me. I think i made some poor choices towards the end anyway.

Why can't they just patch it so it reads what I've done in the past 70 hours I put into this game, and give me some trophies for it?

I don't plan on going through this AGAIN just for trophies...

PS3Trophies.org has the full trophy list on their site. In fact, they've had it up for a while now.

Great!!! I'll definately go back to GTA IV and play it some more. It's a great game, but it does lose its fun factor after playing too much. But since I havent played in a while I'm sure it will be a good time!

If you guys have played the games for 90+ hours, what's another playthrough...? Everyone whines and whines, but you have to give R* credit for patching the game in the first place.

@daniel_beck_90 , like the DLC for the 360, the way i see it is 360 owners get that PS3 owners get trophies all in all it's just another reason to play the game some more and it's your choice on both counts.

I haven't touched the game since launch week when i completed it, so Im gonna enjoy playing throughit again looking at teh different story choices.
