All told, a pretty awesome list with a slightly different focus than Rock Band 2. The only thing that's a little weird is the number of songs that are featured in both games--by my count there are no less than 12 songs that you'll find on the disc in both games, and that's without considering the DLC. So what do you think, are there enough differences to justify buying both, or are you unwilling to pay for the same songs twice? If nothing else, I think we can all agree that these are ridiculous problems to have.

UPDATE: Make that 13 tracks that are on the disc in both Rock Band 2 and Guitar Hero World Tour. Here's an explicit list of the crossover tracks.

·        The Allman Brothers Band - “Ramblin' Man”
·        Blondie - “One Way or Another”
·        Bon Jovi - “Livin’ On A Prayer”
·        Dinosaur Jr. - “Feel The Pain”

·        Silversun Pickups - “Lazy Eye”
·        Smashing Pumpkins - “Today”
·        Survivor - “Eye of the Tiger”

Sweet, there are quite a few surprises on that list (Wings, anyone?). Despite some also being in RB, I'm sure I'll still buy both games. Because that's how I roll - with lots and lots of plastic instruments.

its a gd list but would of like 2 see alot more variation from rock - death metal but hey mayb next time
deauxon Sept. 12, 2008 at 11:13 a.m.
Looks like there's some decent acoustic stuff.
Kohe321on Sept. 12, 2008 at 11:14 a.m.
Thats a really nice list... Now I need to figure out whether to get Guitar Hero 2 or this.
drac96on Sept. 12, 2008 at 11:19 a.m.
This is overall a lot better than I was expecting. I am looking forward to this.

L'via L'Viaquez is a great choice, that should be fun to play.
DJ_Laeon Sept. 12, 2008 at 11:24 a.m.
Not a bad selection. I'll probably rent it to see how the game turns out, although I'll be too busy playing Rock Band 2 to bother buying this one.
Heartagramon Sept. 12, 2008 at 11:25 a.m.
I think Rock band 2's list is much better but i love to see Tool and Jimi on here and more muse never hurts anyone
NarcolepticBaton Sept. 12, 2008 at 11:32 a.m.
how are we gonna do the beat boxing in freak on a leash??? THATS AWESOME
xplodeddon Sept. 12, 2008 at 11:33 a.m.
its a good list.
TadThuggishon Sept. 12, 2008 at 11:35 a.m.
Yeah, I'm pretty excited about this.  Can't decide whether I like this or RB2's set list more.  Oh well.
Anyway, props to Activision for making Rock Band stuff compatible.  Without that, there's no way I'd be getting World Tour.  Now I consider it a possibility.
DualReaveron Sept. 12, 2008 at 11:36 a.m.
There is a few songs I really like on Guitar Hero's setlist, but I think Rock Band 2 is stronger overall even without mentioning its backwards compatibility and DLC.
demonbearon Sept. 12, 2008 at 11:36 a.m.
Mostly no metal at all. I'll pass.
Blueon Sept. 12, 2008 at 11:37 a.m.
TOOL!
fleethefactoryon Sept. 12, 2008 at 11:37 a.m.
That Beat It solo is gonna be off the chain.
PlatypusPlatoonon Sept. 12, 2008 at 11:38 a.m.
My heart has been forever captured by Rock Band, but there's no denying that Guitar Hero keeps coming out with kick-ass setlists year after year.  Two thumbs way up.
Blitzeron Sept. 12, 2008 at 11:40 a.m.
Nice to see some Tool in there. But no Rage?
Shasamon Sept. 12, 2008 at 11:41 a.m.
I think there's enough difference to buy both, but I definitely prefer Rock Bands list. It's just got something about it that's fresh...plus, RB DLC FTW! (TOO MANY LETTERS).
WickedCobra03on Sept. 12, 2008 at 11:41 a.m.
Tool and Nirvana.  I am personally going to get one set and then just go ahead and buy the stand alone game for whichever depending on whats better.
sociald1077on Sept. 12, 2008 at 11:46 a.m.
I'll get both. I view these games like I do buying CDs and other forms of music, that being that sometimes you buy two different compilations that sometimes have 1 or 2 tracks that overlap, but for the most part they are different. Also with the different visual styles and compatibility between the instruments (thank God this finally happened), I think both will be great ways to kill time.

I will not be getting the bundles for both games though. I'm keeping all my RB1 hardware, and will be getting a GH:WT guitar (because I only have 1 right now) to be my 2nd guitar/bass for 4 player mode.

I also don't really see why people wouldn't get both. Is it brand loyalty? You buy CDs from various bands/genres, why not music games of the same flavor?
