Halo vs. Ecko Shirts Go On Sale

Master Chief joins the Still Free Crew, results are kind of bland.

As someone who's been known to wear Ecko clothing from time to time and as someone who liked Halo (well, Halo 3, anyway), you would think that Ecko's limited edition Halo t-shirts would be right up my alley. But surprise! They all look kind of awful and feel like they were designed for people who want others to think they like Halo, as opposed to people who, you know, actually like Halo. It doesn't help that the descriptions are written in some lame kind of attempt at gaming shorthand. Take this one, for example.

Limited Edition Halo tees are a tribute to this legendary video game trilogy. Don't get Pwned! Laser shooting Spartans make up the screenprint design of this Halo tee. 100% cotton. Machine wash. Imported.

Gee, it's a good thing someone threw "Don't get Pwned" into that description. As an avid game enthusiast, I don't feel comfortable spending money with people who can't speak my language. Thanks, Ecko, for "keeping it real" on these shirts. Here's a look at a few of them, but you'll need to go to the Ecko online store if you want to see all six.

Wow, all of those designs are terrible.  They're like what middle school boys wear to make them think they look cool.
Heartagramon July 23, 2009 at 8:31 a.m.
Yeah those are pretty fucking horrible. You can go to Hot Topic and Find better video game shirts.
JJWeathermanon July 23, 2009 at 8:31 a.m.
As previously mentioned, all terrible.

I got one of the MGS4 shirts from a similar Japanese promotion. Wish they were more in that style.

What in the sweet holy hell is going on in that first one? Who in the fuck let that design get past the concept stage?

"Hey I have an idea. Let's place a bunch of Master Chiefs scattered about the t-shirt. Some will even be upside down. No wait, how about a spiral of Master Chiefs disppearing toward the center. No wait, let's make something that gangbangers who play Xbox 360 will wear. Well, let's make them all."
Hectoron July 23, 2009 at 8:38 a.m.
Ewwww.
TheHBKon July 23, 2009 at 8:38 a.m.
