Today is the day that I'm learning how to crunch videos through our system without having to waste Vinny's oh-so-valuable time. So here, check out this video of
Cliff and
friends talking about putting together the rip-roarin' sound effects in Gears of War 2.
Can't say why exactly, but apparently today is also the day for me to go from "Man, Gears 2 is just a bunch more Gears" to "Hey, I'm totally ready to play more Gears!" Hopefully there's enough larger-than-life action sequences in there to justify my newfound interest.
You know what bugged me about the first Gears, though? Enemies don't flinch when you shoot them. They just sit there soaking up bullets with ropey blood flying everywhere until they die. From this footage, it looks like that hasn't changed in the sequel, and it's probably too late to add in some pain animations this late in development. But if--I mean when--there's a Gears Part Three, I hope you can see those Locusts really feeling it when you unload your
Lancer into them.

I'm glad there is a GoW 2 for those fans but by the end of GoW 1 I pretty much was done with that game. I don't think I'll be picking up # 2.

My favorite composer of video game music is Jeremy Soule. Since his work on Total Annihilation I've absolutely loved his compositions, and every game I've played that features his music has always had an exceptional score that I've wanted to listen to out of the game.
