Video Game News, Stories and Updates for the PS3, XBOX 360, PC, PSP, Wii, and DS

Today Sega announced details on a North American and European release of Let's Tap, one of the weirdest games that we saw at last year's Tokyo Game Show. The big detail: it's coming out in North America and Europe (this summer).

If you don't remember, this is the Wii exclusive developed by Yuju Naka's newish studio Prope that has you placing your Wii remote on a cardboard box and then tapping that box to play the game. Yes, you read all that correctly--whether you're blushing at the double entendres inherent in discussing this game, or you're just baffled at the silly concept.

All kidding aside, I actually had fun playing Let's Tap. It's a bunch of minigames. You can get down with that, right? The game features briefly in this video oddity we shot at TGS.

In Japan, Let's Tap shipped with its own custom box controller...inside the game box. A box within a box. That kind of metapackaging is almost enough to make you forgive Naka's weirdo design indulgences.

Sega didn't respond to inquiries about the inclusion of the box in North America, but given the harsh economic climate, who could blame them for avoiding the extra cardboard overhead?

I hope that this concept of tapping a box can be utilized for other games built around it.

I'm gonna check out this game for sure. I don't care if it's just a novelty, I think the idea of it is ingenious.

I've played the Japanese version, it's great. I'll probably buy this if it's not too expensive.

I think I'll just wait for them to release "Let's Fap"...... hmm, on second thought that seems like a horrible idea. I'd hate to see the Wii peripheral included for that game. ((>_<))

Not exactly "tap runner" is pretty long and has quite a bunch of levels, bubble voyager is pretty long also.

Actually one of the few upcoming Wii games I'm interested in, but it better have that awesome song from the trailer in it.

I wanna play Tap Runner. It looks really cool.
And no waggle! These are the kinds of games that more developers should be looking into on Wii.

Given the success of garbage like Wii Fit, Game Party, Carnival Games and the like it'll probably be a hit. Now excuse me while I slam my face into the palm of my hand as hard as I can.
