I Just Keep Getting More Excited About DJ Hero

Here are some large shots of Daft Punk to help you out in the excitement department.

I hear you. You're out there whining about how your house is already filled to the brim with plastic guitars and that you're going to take a stand and not buy any more games with equipment. I get where you're coming from, but you're wrong. You know as well as I do that you're going to crack at some point and end up with a copy of DJ Hero, which is due out on October 27. Hey, it's only like $120, right? Surely you've spent more on rhythm games in the past.

And you know why you're going to be right there, alongside me, buying DJ Hero while simultaneously cursing yourself out for "letting it happen again?" These screenshots should pretty much tell the tale:

Yeah. The French robot men of Daft Punk are going to be in DJ Hero. They're contributing 11 tracks, which include two "megamixes" of their material, these eight tracks, and one mysterious thing that hasn't been announced yet but probably isn't world-shattering:

  • Daft Punk “Around the World” vs. Young MC “Bust A Move”
  • Daft Punk “Da Funk” vs. NASA “Strange Enough ft. Karen O, ODB and Fatlip”
  • Daft Punk “Da Funk” vs. Queen “Another One Bites the Dust”
  • Daft Punk “Robot Rock” vs. Hashim “Al-Naafiysh (The Soul)” – Produced and mixed by The Scratch Perverts
  • Daft Punk “Robot Rock” vs. Queen “We Will Rock You”
  • Daft Punk “Short Circuit” vs. Boogie Down Productions “Jack Of Spades”
  • Daft Punk “Technologic” vs. Gary Numan “Cars”
  • Daft Punk “Television Rules The Nation” vs. No Doubt “Hella Good”

I don't normally consider promotional screenshots of games to be worthy of being desktop wallpaper, but I'm pretty close on a couple of these shots. Heck, at this point I'm practically ready to throw down for the way-more-expensive "Renegade" edition of the game... though since that won't come with any weird replica Daft Punk helmets, maybe I can safely hold off of that one. We'll see.

Christ. This is tempting. Very, very tempting.

Uhhh I didn't really care about this game, but now I'm interested.

'Daft Punk “Robot Rock” vs. Hashim “Al-Naafiysh (The Soul)” – Produced and mixed by The Scratch Perverts'

I wonder if the soundtrack will be available on it's own? I love the Scratch Perverts.

11 tracks of Daft Punk might be worth it. Damn it, I thought DJ Hero would be filled with crappy hip hop. Must... resist... expensive plastic....instruments..... argh!

I so did not want to buy this, but now I'm really  compelled by the awesomeness of Daft Punk.  Ugh.  Please do a review on this one to let us know how it turns out.

Daft Punk helmets for my avatar please!

Isn't that the helmet from Haze?
RySheon Sept. 14, 2009 at 1:23 p.m.

guiseppeon Sept. 14, 2009 at 1:24 p.m.
I was probably going to get it anyway. Now I'll definitely get it.

Fuck
erinfizzon Sept. 14, 2009 at 1:26 p.m.
I was already pretty sold on this before finding out Daft Punk was onboard. Very very cool. First comes the PS3 though...THEN DJ Hero. My living room already looks like a Best Buy threw up in an Ikea...one more giant controller won't make much difference really.
PsychedelicETon Sept. 14, 2009 at 1:27 p.m.
They've got a good thing going here - those *are* sweet screenshots.  I wonder where they will go from here?  I applaud the inclusion of Gary Numan!
Diamondon Sept. 14, 2009 at 1:27 p.m.
I am still not the least bit tempted to get DJ Hero, but damn they look cool in those shots.  They need to be in more games.
Ivanetcon Sept. 14, 2009 at 1:28 p.m.
why do people like daft punk so much

ugh, oh well

might get this either way
Tuggahon Sept. 14, 2009 at 1:29 p.m.
They should combine DJ Hero and Def Jam Rapstar into one game, I want to sing some Daft Punk as well as fake play it.
Meatsim is online on Sept. 14, 2009 at 1:30 p.m.
I need one of those helmets.
ShaunMon Sept. 14, 2009 at 1:30 p.m.
Dammit Activision, you guys do so much that makes me hate you; but then you go around and pull this kind of stuff and I love it.  I was on the fence about DJ Hero before this, but if it's not a total failure I might get it when it goes down in price some.
