Konami's X-Men Arcade Beat 'Em Up Coming To PSN, XBLA

I swear to God, if you take Wolverine from me I will break your back.

One of the few stories to slip out of New York Comic-Con last week shouldn't come as too much of a shocker: X-Men, Konami's 1992 coin-op beat 'em up, is coming to PSN and Xbox Live Arcade, Marvel Comics said during a panel. This beaut was rife for a rerelease.

Marvel didn't talk release window or pricing at the panel, but a trailer shown did dispense a couple of details worth leaving in your skull. Foremost, it appears as if Marvel will be leaving the core game alone: its exclusive character selection, over-the-top play, and funky music will be retained. The lone extra feature confirmed via video was the inclusion of drop-in and drop-out co-op, meaning you'll be given the option to play with five other people on-screen, just like in the arcade version.  The original version. Dibs on Wolverine. Seriously.

On the local support front, there will be differences between platforms. The PSN edition of the game will allow six people to play at the same time, while the XBLA version will only allow four, though, it'll have the option of adding two more dudes online via Live.

Pricing was also not a topic of discussion, but if you were like me, well, you've already dropped enough quarters in X-Men to pay for its behemoth cabinet seventeen times over. At this point, it'd be criminal not to own a digital version of it as well, right?

Here's some more shots of the original version. Man, I want this game.
