Legit Footage Of Warhammer 40K Space Marine Surfaces

THQ's gone on the record with an actual trailer for its rumored action game set in the Warhammer universe. The sci-fi one, that is.

THQ and in-house studio Relic--makers of Dawn of War II and Company of Heroes, among others--just put months of speculation to rest by confirming the long-rumored existence of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine, a new action game set in the same Warhammer sci-fi universe as the Dawn of War games. IGN has the first trailer, along with some in-depth information about RPG elements and multiplayer.

What do you think? In the vein of RTS-franchises-turned-character-action-games, let's hope this one meets a better end than Starcraft Ghost did.

Fucking awesome

Looks like another action game to me.  Nothing is more repetitive.

Space Marines are overplayed. I want an Ork game.

So they just used the Dawn of War II graphics but changed the gameplay to be Too Human kinda action RPG?

It's relic so I'm already happy with it. Also the fact that there are more that 3 on 1 battles is great, that "leaked" demonstration made me worry for a bit.

Reminds me of the initiative behind Warhammer 40000: Fire Warrior.

Looked awesome. Kinda reminded me of a good version of Dynasty Warriors.

Looks quite a bit better than the DoW2 graphics to me.

Looks awesome...
I didn't love the story of Dawn of War II, as much as I loved the gameplay, but this looks amazing...

This is the 40k game I've wanted to play for ever.
FuzzYLemoNon May 28, 2009 at 2:58 p.m.
Oof, thanks for reminding me about what happened to Starcraft Ghost... TOO SOON, TOO SOON!
Wraithoron May 28, 2009 at 3:03 p.m.
Officially hyped!
Although it is a shame it has to be the ultra-generic ultramarines...
Anthony_Galindoon May 28, 2009 at 3:15 p.m.
Is this the same game that had footage leaked out some time last year?
LocoRockeron May 28, 2009 at 3:20 p.m.
looks like it's the same engine that's been used for coh and dawn of war 2
Rockanomicson May 28, 2009 at 3:23 p.m.
Relic? Really? I guess it's not that crazy in the grand scheme of things. Plus that'll mean the voice acting will have a high chance of awesome, which is very important for Space Maritime activities if Dow 1 taught me anything.

Looks perfecto to me, and I probably would have signed on even if it was that old ass footage from like a year ago.

I hope you can paint your character as any chapter you want, like in  DOW
