Local Boyes Makes Good

Familiar-looking Canadian teams with the Weinsteins. Can a King's Speech game be far behind?

The new face of licensed video games.

At this point, you've almost certainly encountered Adam Boyes on or around Giant Bomb. When he's not paying the Giant Bomb community to design his Christmas cards, he's popping up in various videos or podcasts from time to time to lend his special brand of expertise. It's led to a few questions, like "what the hell does that guy do?" Today, we have at least a partial answer.

Adam's company, Beefy Media, has teamed up with The Weinstein Company to turn the production company's film and television properties into games. Specifically, Beefy will "oversee all production aspects of the games."

But which properties are actually being turned into games? That part's apparently still a secret. The studio is currently working on Spy Kids 4, Scream 4, a Fraggle Rock movie, and upcoming pictures with great names like Submarine, Dirty Girl, and Butter. So maybe some of those will end up in some kind of interactive format at some point? I would totally play a submarine game called Submarine. Heck, I would play any game called Butter.

We'll start drunk dialing Adam in the middle of the night until we get some hard answers out of him.

Wondering if Beefy Media could make any good Film games!?
Nemuelon March 25, 2011 at 12:55 p.m.
Thats an amazing list of upcoming movies, they clearly need games !

Neat...?

Maybe one day this'll lead to my all time dream fighting game crossover of Butter vs Dirty Girl!
Tuggahon March 25, 2011 at 12:56 p.m.
Guess what? These will probably be bad.

I would love to see Dirty Girl on GameStop shelves. In the D section, right next to Catherine in C.

Now would be the perfect time to pitch the Lincoln Force movie to the Weinsteins. Though with The Lincoln Lawyer, the Lincoln assassination movie and Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, Hollywood may be all Lincolned out!

Why is the default pic on his wiki page the one that makes him look like Lewis Black?

Grats on making movie tie in games!

Wait Beefy Media is an actual company?  I always assumed it was a money laundering front for organised crime or something.
TheBooyaon March 25, 2011 at 1:07 p.m.
@Tuggah: Hey Tuggah - The whole reason I'm involved is to make sure it's NOT bad. If I thought the stuff would be bad, I wouldn't have partnered up with them! Our goal is to break the mold of crappy Hollywood games.

@Nemuel: With it comes the incredible back catalog as well. The Dimension Films label has an incredible repertoire of IPs in it, and we're excited to dig in.

@ErrorOperator: If we don't you all can fire me.
Whizbangon March 25, 2011 at 1:08 p.m.
What does this mean for the future of Beefy Media's 3DS wrestling game, Leg Finger?
heatDrive88on March 25, 2011 at 1:09 p.m.
@TheBooya: HOT SCOOPS.

Seriously though, congratulations.

Fraggle Rock game!

Adam was looking for iOS developers in the Bay Area. I'm not Magnum P.I., despite my hat and Ferarri, but this might be a clue.

Butter: 64 multiplayer online.
heatDrive88on March 25, 2011 at 1:12 p.m.
@TheBooya: Oh and as my first request, I'm saying you should use the Scream film properties and remake them as games in a similar format as Night Trap.
