Affordably priced trilogy package on its way to the Wii.

Samus is all, like, "NNOOOOOOWWWWW how much would you pay!!??!?!"

Well here's a pretty good deal. Nintendo has announced that it'll be releasing Metroid Prime Trilogy for the Wii on August 24. The package will feature the "New Play Control" style of operation in Metroid Prime and Metroid Prime 2. Naturally, it will also include Metroid Prime 3, which was originally released on the Wii. So that one will have Current Play Control.

The games will be collected on one disc, and a new setup for unlockables will open up stuff as objectives across the three games are completed. The compilation will retail for $49.99.

that's too much, bob!
DJ_Laeon May 22, 2009 at 10:24 a.m.
I would pay $40 for that.

Holy crap that is a fantastic deal for some sweet games!
Endogeneon May 22, 2009 at 10:28 a.m.
It will also have four-player local death match which wasn't in any of the Prime games.

If you have not played any of the Prime games i must say that this is the ideal package for the ideal price, actually it is a awesome deal considering the quality of those three games and the new features.

edit: apparently there was 4 player multiplayer in Echoes but never in Corruption

How about Prime 3 with old style controls?
Alaska_Gameron May 22, 2009 at 10:29 a.m.
I always thought that type of package would be something left only to my imagination, but now I'm actually glad about this, considering I've never owned (or played enough of) the first two Prime games. Besides, 3 games for the regular price of one. That pretty much settles the deal for me.
talljackon May 22, 2009 at 10:35 a.m.
Sweet! I was afraid I'd have to pay thirty bucks each for the first and second games each. That would add up to the price of a 360/PS3 game. AND WHO EVEN HAS ENOUGH SKRILLA FOR THAT?!!?!!

@DukeTogo: You, sir, are my hero.

@DukeTogo: Why would you want that? MP3 controlled great.

That's badass.

Definitely going to get it.

I've *heard* that Metroid Prime and Echoes will also feature native widescreen support -- a feature that was noticeably missing from the original GameCube releases -- but I've never found an official statement from Nintendo about that one way or the other.  Here's hoping...!

@AutisticAngel:Kotaku confirms

If that's true, I would totally pay $50 for it.

If not, it's less of a deal to me as I already own the first two games and have no issues with their controls, but widescreen would be a nice perk.
Video_Game_Kingon May 22, 2009 at 10:52 a.m.
Wait, one disc? How the hell are they gonna do that?
ahoodedfigureon May 22, 2009 at 10:56 a.m.
Hey, it's cool that they interlink all three games with stuff.

Beat Prime, but was disappointed that my Gamecube kicked it before I could try out the sequel.  Good to know they're still willing to sell the stuff :)

Here's a bit of gameplay from the Japanese version of Prime 1 on Wii

I personally think Metroid Prime 3 is worth $50 on it's own still, so this deal is just absolutely INCREDIBLE!
AutisticAngelon May 22, 2009 at 11:02 a.m.
@Endogene: This hands-on impressions article from Wired also confirms the native widescreen support.  Thanks for the heads-up about Kotaku!

This sounds like an amazing deal though im hoping they also offer the ability to play Prime 1 and 2 with "original" controls. Since I played so many hours of prime 1 it would feel wierd to play it any other way, though im sure eventually id want to swap over to the new controls it would be nice to have a direct 1:1 contrast on how they are better.

Dig Deeper into Metroid Prime Trilogy

All three Metroid Prime titles in one package. Metroid Prime and Metroid Prime 2: Echoes are reworked to include 480p widescreen, motion controls, and achievements.

US Release Date: Aug. 24, 2009
