Those crazy Kotaku kids ran a trailer for Midnight Club: Los Angeles today that caught my eye. Thought it might be worth sharing with ya, in case you haven't seen it yet. Take a look:

...so does any of that strike you as gameplay? Or just fancy-schmancy pre-rendered business? I actually haven't seen much of the game for myself yet. Seems like Rockstar would have to come up with some kind of hook for the game, since I don't know that just having an open-world, checkpoint-based racing game is enough in this age of... well, this age of Burnout Paradise, I guess. A realistic Los Angeles might do the trick.

Either way, neat-looking cockpit view stuff in the trailer. What do you think?

[UPDATE] Turns out that trailer is from, like, November or something. My November was a little busy, so that's the first time I've seen it. Anyways, here's the new trailer that those Rockstar cats put out a little more recently:

Could be good, we'll have to wait and see. I only played a bit of the Midnight club series of games, and I didn't like it that much, but I could give it a second chance.

I can't see it breaking any records for gameplay, I'll pass.

Guys, this isn't a new trailer. It's old. Hella old. As in August 22nd, 2007 old.
That being said, I'm so damn excited for this game. Went and pre-ordered it minutes after that trailer was released. I've loved every iteration of the series since the very first one, I can't wait for LA to be released.

And like I commented on Kotaku, the real news is here folks: New trailers, info and screens. That is where you'll find the new "Hollywood" trailer.

Also, if anyone is interested, the track is "Idealistic" by Digitalism. From what the trailers have shown so far, the game's soundtrack is shaping up to be as good as the previous games. Mmm... electronica.

OK that trailer on the Midnight Club website looks a lot better. A lot more spit and polish on it. But I'm still gonna reserve judgement till I play a demo at least.

They're going to have to try hard not to borrow from themselves on this one.

Looks like gameplay to me, or at least the majority of it does. Wouldn't surprise me if it actually did look like that.

I more or less enjoyed MC3.  The only thing I didn't like is that I had no idea where to go in the city and I keep overshooting turns.

also i noticed the character models looked rather crappy, so it doesnt seem to be pre-rendered

I love the Midnight Club series, Midnight Club: Two was probably one of my favorite games. I think the Burnout series even borrowed heavly from Midnight Club. if you really think about it, Midnight Club was the last generation's Burnout Paradise, And eventhough it was going head to head with both NFS and Burnout, it managed to hold its own, which is pretty commendable.

I really hope Midnight Club:LA doesn't dissapoint because it's on my most anticipated games list!

The arms in the cockpit view looked pretty stiff, but I've enjoyed the past Midnight Club games.
