As long as it has a hookshot, everything will be fine.

Nintendo held a Q&A session this evening, where Shigeru Miyamoto ran through many of the games shown at this morning's press conference, talked a bit about the process surrounding their creation, and so on.

But the most interesting pieces of info discussed what will eventually become the next Legend of Zelda game. It wasn't announced at the show, but Miyamoto claims that the team is sitting down and taking some time to think about what a modern Legend of Zelda game should play like. His view is that the game should probably require the use of the Wii Motion Plus, but that depends on the sales of that little hardware-enhancing brick. He also briefly touched on the way that some players think of Zelda as RPG-like, meaning that some players may not appreciate a deeper, more involved set of controls.

You can still consider the game to be unannounced, but it's something that Miyamoto is hoping to introduce next year. A quick bit of box-like artwork was shown, featuring Link and a smallish young woman. No photographs were allowed at the event.

I haven't played Zelda a game since Windwaker.... Maybe once I get a DSi I'll try the newer ones.

I actually would love a super in depth- detailed Zelda

Fan-fucking-tastic. Zelda goes casual. You may finish raping my youth now, Nintendo. Just make sure you wipe it down after.

I would appreciate and welcome a Zelda that dares to do something, ANYTHING, new. Knowing how tradition-loving Nintendo is, I'm guessing controls have a better chance of changing over aesthetic and narrative.

Yes, please take some time to think it through. How about... no boomerang this time? Just throwin the idea out there. Maybe we leave hookshot at home? Let's get something new in...

And seriously. How many times can we go to the Forest Temple?

I played through most of Twilight Princess before getting bored and selling it to my friend. It felt like an Ocarina of Time knockoff.

It didn't say casual, it said deeper and more involved. That's the opposite of casual. If you're gonna make creepy rape jokes, at least pay attention first.

Considering we're getting a crazy new Metroid next year, I'll have to let the Zelda no-show slide this year.

All I suggest is that it's not the same old fan-servicey Zelda we got last time... although I'd totally buy that anyway.

You make it sound like you created it. you should probably reword your post. Also, do we know for sure this is the one he showed?

Oh jesus christ. Zelda IS NOT AN RPG! If you want to make the controls more deep then do it! I would love to have awesome control over swinging his sword, blocking with the shield, etc. instead of the shaking the Wii Remote that they had in Twilight Princess.

People screaming for a follow up to Twilight Princess are fools in my honest opinion, not only did the game feel no different from OoT, it had lost the sense of style it gained from Wind Waker. It's no wonder Miyamoto said at the time that the realistic style of TP was purely for the fans, and that after that he would be doing things differently. I fully support the wind waker art direction, and it's not like Zelda doesnt have the same great gameplay, because it does. There's far too many realistic looking games these days, Zelda doesn't need to be one of them.

I think a good update would be to make it an RTS.

TBH you're right. They need a MAJOR re-vamp. I think everyone is right when they say "we need a futuristic Zelda game" it's one of the only things that could make the series feel fresh again.
