No More Heroes Sequel Announced

Here's that reason to go on living that you were searching for.

I intended to get over into the Marvelous Entertainment booth at Tokyo Game Show 2008 tomorrow, and after seeing this new trailer, I just found another reason.

This is the debut trailer for No More Heroes: Desperate Struggle, which is a sequel to No More Heroes, the Wii game developed by Goichi Suda's Grasshopper Manufacture. It doesn't sound like any platform details have been announced formally, but 1UP is reporting that the series will remain on the Wii and also that Ubisoft will be handling publishing in the US.

Personally, I would have called it No More Heroes 2: Touchdown From All Angles and had E-40 play a pivotal boss character. But since I'm probably the only person who remembers that Click song, Desperate Struggle is a pretty good name, too. Though since it abbreviates to DS, I might have held that name for a portable side story or something.

No More Heroes is one of the smartest, slickest, most intelligent game satires ever made. I couldn't be more stoked!

Yes! I'm hoping for the return of Destroyman myself. Maybe even a Destroyman 2!

So its confirmed to be a Wii game?
RHCPfan24on Oct. 9, 2008 at 6:53 a.m.
Cool.  I liked the first one and more of these types of games for the Wii is certainly a good thing.

1UP says Wii, and I think it's fair to assume that it probably will be.

I am praying for a motion plus dude slicing mini game.

Yes! More sweet monologues. Damn... NMH is awesome.

Oh thank you, sweet Videogame Gods!

:D I can't wait for this! looks amazing. Definitely another Wii game to really look forward too, for me.

Motion Plus could work really well, if they choose to use it

I hope this is on the DS. Maybe that way Suda51 can find the time to finish making the fucking thing before chucking it onto the shelves.

NMH was perhaps THE most overrated game of all time. Too many people were tricked into buying it by critics who were all excited to just have an "artistic" game to rub in Roger Eberts face never mind the fact that much of the artistic value was stuck in the game's own cleft asshole.

Even Zero Punctuation's Yhatzee (who I thought from his previous stances hated quick time events and tedium) advised people to buy this game. Perhaps this is why every mature themed game arriving on the Wii looks like a low budget disaster: all flash and no substance, just like NMH. Programmers now think they can throw together whatever crap in a couple of weeks, chuck in enough blood and toilet humor to get an M rating and they expect everyone to go nuts over it.

I would be a little more optamistic if any one part of NMH worked well but even the boss battles (by comparison the most interesting part of the game) ended up being just as repetitive, tedious, and full of QTEs as the rest of the crap.

I took the critic's advise on NMH1 but it'll be a cold day in hell when I buy the sequel (or anything else critics suggest) for anything more than $5 in the bargain bin.

Oh yes! No More Heroes is definitely the best reason to own a Wii, next to Super Mario Galaxy.
Irishjohnon Oct. 9, 2008 at 10:32 a.m.
This makes me happy.

If only I had a Wii...

So when the last game's ending destroyed and created a possibility for a sequel at the same time, I'm glad they chose this one.

Dig Deeper into No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle

No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle is Grasshopper Manufacture's second installment in its surreal Wii action-adventure series. Taking place three years after the original game's conclusion, the sequel allows Travis Touchdown to wield two beam katanas simultaneously on his quest for vengeance.
