Well, it looks like the retailers listing a Slim PS3 were right. Sony has announced that redesigned, 33-percent-smaller PlayStation 3 hardware will be available worldwide by September 1. It will come with a 120GB hard drive and will run for $299 in the US. That'll translate to 299 Euros and 29,980 yen in other regions.
Prices on the existing PlayStation 3 hardware will drop tomorrow.
Other announcements revealed by Sony in Germany this morning include a digital comics reader for the PSP (with Marvel Comics supporting the service), and smaller downloadable games for the PSPgo launch called "PSP minis." For a blow-by-blow look at what happened when, check out Joystiq's live blog.
