Video Game News, Stories and Updates for the PS3, XBOX 360, PC, PSP, Wii, and DS

Downloadable content has been a critical part of the Rock Band plan seemingly from day one, but what's one to do if they don't have an internet connection, or the console they're playing Rock Band on doesn't support DLC? Enter the Rock Band Track Pack, the second volume of which Harmonix has revealed the details for. Similar to the first Track Pack, Volume 2 will offer a mix of songs that have previously been available as DLC in a standalone, disc-based package. This time around, though, it's coming to the PS3 and Xbox 360 for the first time, as well as the PlayStation 2 and Wii. Furthermore, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 owners will be able to import songs from the Track Pack into Rock Band or Rock Band 2, though in a deliciously ironic twist, it'll require an internet connection to do so. Either way, here's what you'll get on November 17 for a price of $29.99:

  • Avenged Sevenfold - "Afterlife"
  • Blondie - "Call Me"
  • Weezer - "El Scorcho"
  • Devo - "Girl U Want"
  • Maximo Park - "Girls Who Play Guitars"
  • Disturbed - "Indestructible"
  • Angels & Airwaves - "It Hurts"
  • The Cars - "Just What I Needed"
  • The Police - "Message in a Bottle"
  • Pixies - "Monkey Gone to Heaven"
  • Duran Duran - "Rio"
  • Mötley Crüe - "Saints of Los Angeles"
  • Lynyrd Skynyrd - "Simple Man"
  • Red Hot Chili Peppers - "Snow ((Hey Oh))"
  • Nine Inch Nails - "The Perfect Drug"
  • Fall Out Boy - "This Ain't a Scene, It's an Arms Race"
  • Papa Roach - "Time Is Running Out"
  • Garbage - "Why Do You Love Me"
  • Judas Priest - "You've Got Another Thing Comin'"
  • Smashing Pumpkins - "Zero"

Considering those songs are all $1.99 a pop if purchased as DLC, that's not a bad deal. While we're on the topic of Rock Band DLC, word came out of the Rock Band forums that next week's DLC will be the Foo Fighters' 1997 album The Colour and the Shape. With “Everlong” already on the disc in Rock Band 2, you'll be able to get the other 12 tracks for $19.99 come November 11.

So how does importing the songs work?  I was thinking about renting this from gamefly.  I need to know if there's a code in the manual so  I don't end up wasting my time.
