Video Game News, Stories and Updates for the PS3, XBOX 360, PC, PSP, Wii, and DS

EA has announced plans for a new content update for Skate 2. The pack is called the Maloof Money Cup Pack, and it's based on what EA calls "the largest pursed event in the history of professional skateboarding." I don't see what wearing a purse has to do with "shredding" "sick" "airs," but then, I am not a professional skatist.

The pack will run $3.00 on the PlayStation 3, or 240 Microsoft bones, and wiil contain new events for both the offline and online modes. Offline will have new vert and street contests, and the online mode will receive new challenges, as well. The Xbox 360 version will get an additional set of achievements, adding 250 points to the game. The release doesn't say anything one way or the other about PlayStation 3 trophies, so I've dropped EA a line to see if that version will see a similar update.

[UPDATE] I heard back, and no, the update will not add new trophies to the PS3 version of the game.

You'll be able to do the Maloof thing on July 9, which is one day before the real thing kicks off in Costa Mesa, CA. Here, look at some screenshots!

Sounds like a good deal for $3, too bad I've never really been into skate.

EA is really milking Skate 2. Lots of DLC, some of which really should have come on the disc anyway (I'm looking at you Filmer Pack). I genuinely feel EA believes the Skate series is not wholly commercially viable as a stand alone product, maybe just a little too niche in comparison to most of its other sports franchises and feels it needs to recoup through DLC.

YEEEEEEESSSSS!

I probably shouldn't be this excited about DLC but whatever. Skate 2 is awesome. One thing I was hoping they'd add is 2 player free skate. Me and my brother like playing the game but sometimes just want to skate around together. They have it on multiplayer so why isn't it on local two player?

Finally some actual new DLC i would want to buy. Not that caged off part of Skate 1 garbage.

I still need to check that game out.  I've heard great things about it.

Just so you know the largest pursed event would mean the event with the largest amount of money to be won.

They're not really milking it. Sure, the Filmer pack was debatable, however the maps and challenges released thus far have been of a decent size and price, and weren't just used for online modes, like most games seem to take the route of. You're entitled to your opinion, however I must disagree, in this case.

Gotta say, took them their sweet ass time.

This is great. For all the people who always moan about DLC, they are forgeting that it is extending the life and content for somebodies favorite game (not necessarily theirs). I am really pleased to see the fellows over at Blackbox giving me more content and pricing it well to boot.

So happy about this! I've been looking forward to new DLC since finishing up the Fantasy Factory.
Skate 2 is still my fall-back game when I have nothing to play.

I own Skate 2 but I haven't really played it yet because I didn't want to commit to learning the controls/tricks. I have a minor backlog I want to play through first. However, this seems decent and I'll pick it up when I finally start playing Skate 2.

Also 240 MSP for 250 points must be the cheapest non-free addition.

I love skate 2 and will gladly buy any dlc for it. Great value and lots of replay time.
