S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Developers Say “Nothing is Certain” About Future

Not the most encouraging news, if you're a fan of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games.

I still haven't played S.T.A.L.K.E.R., despite so much of the game being right up my alley.

If you were hoping Monday would bring cheerful news about the future of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. developers GSC Game World, prepare for a dash of disappointment.

The studio has been acting erratic since reports started breaking about layoffs and the purported cancelling of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2. Twitter updates were posted and deleted, and then everything went silent.

GSC Game World has since gone public with what could only be considered a disheartening update.

“We will do our best to continue,” said the company’s official Twitter account. “However, at this moment, nothing is certain. Our website will continue, with the forum & tech support. The shop will continue until the nearest planned items sell out.”

The status of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. remains uncertain, as does GSC Game World as a whole. Stay tuned.

Kind of depressing.

B.U.M.M.E.R.

the status of stalker is that grigorovich owns the IP and most of the things that have been rumored have him taking off for some reason.

"gscstalker S.T.A.L.K.E.R.

Our website will continue, with the forum & tech support. The shop will continue until the nearest planned items sell out. (uploaded now)"

Yeah... this really sucks. :[

I hope that some western publisher swoops in and snatches-up the team and ip.

WTF did someone run off with all the money?

Mr_Skeletonon Dec. 12, 2011 at 12:27 p.m.

"nothing is certain"...in wasteland Russia.

"Nothing is certain"

Such is life in the zone.

You can really tell that this wasn't written by Alex Navarro because the first news piece had such a 'Don't give a fuck' undertone. Thank you Patrick for not being an asshole.

I really hope GSC doesn't go under. STALKER is a unique game and there's really nothing else that plays, looks or feels like it. It's one of my favourite series of games and I would be really bummed out if the game was cancelled.

Dave's not happy!

Tamaster92on Dec. 12, 2011 at 12:50 p.m.
Nooooo! Damn they were some great games
Driadonon Dec. 12, 2011 at 12:51 p.m.

I really hope someting turns up possitive here. This seems like a super sudden change for the company, especially when just a few months ago they were coming out with S.T.A.L.K.E.R. clothing lines!

stalker was the only reason i kept a gaming pc around. hope they'll figure out something.

l3illyl3obon Dec. 12, 2011 at 1:13 p.m.

There was a rumor going around that the Ukrainian government might buy them out. That would be good news.

Heathon Dec. 12, 2011 at 1:14 p.m.

Meh valve will perchase Stalker2 at a low low price and turn it into a atmosfearic large map death match shooter and selling extra inventory space as micro transactions as its "answer to BF3" You will not get unlocks in stalker 2 u will just find stuff "only be able to carry so much (saved unlocks) and artifacts will be like killstreeks turning indervidual players into Boss.. i expect it to not have teams and be FFA perhaps with large maps and a location based voip you can use"if u decide to team up with follow stalkers on your feild of battle that is.

man that would be a rad game. go gogogogo Valve re package this game actualy and you could even call it Half life Stalker and mish mash what you have done on HL3 with this.. and just make a awsome game.. yer...

IAmNotBatmanon Dec. 12, 2011 at 1:15 p.m.

I own all the STALKER games yet haven't played any of them :[ I really ought to buy a better computer.
