Despite earlier words from a Rare representative, the company has come out and confirmed that the tiny text found in Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts will be addressed. This is being done with an eye toward making that text more legible for users that don't have HDTVs.

The official statement claims that the readability issues are being worked on and a patch will be made available within the next 30 days.

Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts is set to hit stores later this week.

Good. Let's not have another game with Dead Rising reading issues.

The only problem I see here is that will people who own standard definition televisions also have wi-fi and the adaptor for the 360? It seems like a downloadable patch wouldn't really have an impact for some of those people. But maybe I'm wrong. Maybe the majority is'nt HD users yet.

Nice! Fantastic news.
This almost makes me want to purchase a 360.
Gameboi on Nov. 10, 2008
Now if only the rest of the lazy developers out there who still do this to their loyal customers would get off their duff, and do the same.  Just  how hard can it be to make sure text is legible for all, before allowing your game to hit store shelves?

YEAH!

I will be playing my copy of Banjo-Kazooie on a 19 inch screen in full standard def glory.

WOW thanks a lot Giant Bomb! I already canceled my pre-order!  It's ok though, I already jacked the download code before I canceled   muahahaha

Nice. It was hard to read on an HDTV, so this is good news.

Anxiously awaiting Giant Bomb's review of this game.

Yes we exist...okay!? lol

That's cool Rare is fixing this problem But it seriously pisses me off that Capcom would not fix this with Dead Rising 2 years ago when I only had a SDTV and sold the game becasue of the small text. Capcom should learn from Rare and listen to people who complain.

Within 30 days? I'll be finished with the game by then.
jakob187 on Nov. 10, 2008
Um...why don't people just get HDTVs?  = P

Not everyone an afford an HDTV jakob
TechnicallyProficient on Nov. 10, 2008
I have a relatively high end HDTV and that text is still way, way small.

Now if only the EB I pre-ordered from ever gets those download codes...

This doesn't mean people stuck in SD shouldn't buy a 40 dollar 360 VGA cable and hook their 360s up to their computer monitors for high resolution graphics. Most people will choose clarity over size, if they ever see the difference. SD folks, do yourselves a favor and get the 360 VGA cable for your analog monitor/non HDMI 360. If you have an HDMI 360 and a LCD monitor, you can get a better, digital signal by buying an HDMI to DVI cable for the same price (might end up needing separate sound cable). Extremely affordable HD quality visuals for less than the price of a game. (More resolutions are possible than listed on product page)

I quote myself from the original tiny-text comments page:
I'm sure almost every current-gen gamer using a SD TV set probably has a computer monitor. It's probably not as large as the TV in the living room, but the monitor is capable of displaying HD more capably than the SD TV. Get a VGA cable and use it to connect your monitor to your console. If sound is an issue, you probably have a computer that's beside the monitor that has a line-in jack. If you bought the Microsoft branded VGA cable set for the 360, you're in luck as it comes with the cables to connect the 360 to your computer's sound card. I used this method for two years until my 360 had to be replaced and I switched to HDMI and a digital monitor -- still use PC speakers for sound.

Honestly don't understand why people insist on staying SD, you're basically robbing yourself of a much-improved experience. I didn't even buy a 360 until I'd found myself an affordable HDTV because I knew it was more or less a requirement for "next-gen" gaming. Wish publishers would start nudging people into the HD era more harshly. Its worth it and there is a difference.

Get a job and buy a damn hdtv you bums =P

some of us don't have enough money to make ends meet, let alone have enough to buy even a 20" HDTV
dagas on Nov. 10, 2008
My advice is to play on your computer monitor if you don't have an HDTV. That's what I did before I got an HD projector and it worked fine mostly. Almost everyone has a computer monitor at home, it might not be 50" or whatever, but it will still look great and since you sit so close to your computer monitor it doesn't matter. Just treat your console as a gaming-PC.

It's good to see them take a reverse and actually solve this issue that people have been very vocal about. While I think the days of SD TVs should be at an end, at least for gamers, there's no reason to exclude all those people who haven't bought a new TV in awhile for a problem that I think is a pretty easy and essential one to fix.
