Is this Tom Nook's shadowy new comrade?
Is this Tom Nook's shadowy new comrade?
OK, I'll be quick, because you already know what this is. This is the same old story of "local network affiliate talks to cops about video games, something stupid comes out."

KMIZ-TV out of Missouri ran "Wii Gamers Vulnerable To Crime" last week. It's the standard story of bad people wanting to do bad things to kids and how they're supposedly using video game hardware to make it happen.

The comedy comes in when Andy Anderson of the Mid-Missouri Internet Crimes Task Force pipes up with his views on Animal Crossing: City Folk, which is obviously, a pedophile's fantasy.

"There is no reason an adult should have this game," says Andy Anderson, Mid-Missouri Internet Crimes Task Force.

Anderson says adults playing "animal crossing" and similar games are likely doing it for the wrong reasons.

There you have it. Kotaku's Mike Fahey has more to say about this kind of sensationalistic junk, if you're interested. But one thing is crystal clear. If you're playing Animal Crossing and you're not a kid, then Mid-Missouri thinks you're one sick bastard. That said, I'm left with one question... what do Upper- and Lower-Missouri have to say on this hot-button issue?

Also, anyone out there want any "peaches?"

Nice, so video games breed violence? anti social behaviour and now pedophiles? is there anything that can't be blamed on video games?

Wow, this month is awesome. First we're ALL racists, then we all became murdering nutcases because of some German kid and now we are all pedophiles?

Considering that we are all obese menaces to society we don't half do a lot.

Why hasn't anyone jumped on Home yet? I go in there every once in a while and almost everybody is just trying to get naked pictures of each other.

Yeah, this is retarded. I just found out about this looking at the AC board at GameFAQs. I do like how they make it seem as if you can literally talk to anyone throughout the world with the game. They failed to mention that you both need to swap friend codes, and that there's no way of doing so without some sort of other contact with that person outside the game.

Jeff, you got peaches? I got coconuts and apples. Wanna trade?

I saw this story before. I seriously lol'd and then felt scared. I play this game...and I like it. Does that make me weird or something? Granted, I am not 18 yet, but I am close so, am I a pervert? This is a messed-up story, and Animal Crossing is pretty awesome, so they are pretty much dissing it.

Are they fucking serious?  Have you seen nintendo's commercials for these games?  They always made me think the games were more geared to adults with lots of free time.
