Today In Retail Anarchy: You Can Get a Cheaper 3DS Right Now

Walmart ignores Nintendo's changeover date for the 3DS price drop, makes the system cheap as of RIGHT NOW.

How would you like to not only procure yourself a 3DS a few days early, but also get all those free games that are supposed to be a bonus to those impatient sillyheads who willfully became "Nintendo Ambassadors" when they paid too much for the system at launch six months ago? Then get to Walmart, stat.

A Joystiq user has provided visual evidence that Walmart has already gone ahead and made that price drop official, a solid three days ahead of Nintendo's planned August 12 drop. This means that anyone buys today and sets up their eShop connection can get all those free bonus games all immediate like.

Far be it from anyone at Whiskey Media to incite anarchy by actively asserting that people should subvert the rules of order set forth by our retail overlords but...wait, what am I talking about? That's pretty much all we do. If you were planning on getting a cheap 3DS, get your ass to Walmart stat!

Still asking about $168.96 too much as far as I'm concerned.

I wanted to get one, but I decided not to...

Still don't want one.

That's a hell of a rollback.

I wonder if it will sell out or nobody will care xD.
White_Silhouetteon Aug. 9, 2011 at 10:10 a.m.

I would really like a 3DS, but at the same time there is nothing on that system that i want to play.

Man, Wal-Mart. I was feeling less bad about flushing my money down the toilet and getting a 3DS because I'd be getting those sweet free games while people who waited got nothing, now even that small victory has been snatched away. I need to stop buying everything immediately for no reason.

Its tempting but no.. I think I'm getting a Vita for this gen of handhelds.
ttocson Aug. 9, 2011 at 10:13 a.m.

@White_Silhouette: There's definitely not a lot, but Ocarina of Time is amazing. Plus Starfox comes out in exactly one month plus a Shin Megami Tensei game in a couple weeks. There's definitely some good stuff coming out soon.

Maybe if they made a 3DS that only had one color besides "Cosmo Black", maybe it might entice me to get one earlier than I should.

bonbolaption Aug. 9, 2011 at 10:15 a.m.
That's why you shouldn't actually announce what the price will drop to, till the day :P
DrThePunisheron Aug. 9, 2011 at 10:16 a.m.

Instead of WalMart, you could price match at a reputable retailer like Fry's Electronics.

Thor_Moleculeson Aug. 9, 2011 at 10:17 a.m.
it has dropped to 169€ at many european retailers as well.
Still not worth it personally, because it hasn't got a single game i want to play, but good for consumers none-the-less!

Retail anarchy perhaps a slightly unfortunate tag, given that England is a mass of looting this week...
RecSpecon Aug. 9, 2011 at 10:17 a.m.

I figured something like this would happen eventually.

No big deal though, not like something was taken away from people who bought it early right? RIGHT?

014on Aug. 9, 2011 at 10:17 a.m.
I wanted one until I saw the PS Vita.
