Video Game News, Stories and Updates for the PS3, XBOX 360, PC, PSP, Wii, and DS

This footage of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 running on an iPhone surfaced yesterday and the port appears to be coming from LTI Gray Matter, a company which has done work for Activision in the past.

THPS2 was an amazing game in its day, and this looks like a pretty impressive port in one of those clinical kind of "wow, you managed to get it running" sort of ways. But I can't imagine that I'd really get much enjoyment out of using the four spots on the screen to hit buttons while steering and selecting tricks with an accelerometer.

Do you ever get the impression that a lot of iPhone developers are just kind of doing things because they can instead of really thinking and developing great iPhone games? All this footage makes me want to do is hook up my PlayStation and play the real thing.

People are getting all kinds of emulators to run on iPhone these days.

No thanks, I've got Touch Grind :)

You know, the game that was MADE for the Iphone...

Meh, it just looks uncomfortable as a game... and on that system.

Yeah, I'd rather play the original to be honest.

It looks awesome but yeah, controls are the issue. It almost makes me wish Apple would have predicted that iPhone would become a viable handheld games platform and, you know, added a couple of buttons to thing.

Whatever, this makes me want to go listen to some RATM or play me some THPS3
Sure as hell not smudge up my screen fucking around with this.

Controls will suck.

Some simpler older games would be cool on iPhone, but I can't imagine something as complex as THPS2 controlling too well.

Looks like it would be pretty difficult to play on the iPhone. Looks like a quality port though.

Hmm....Tony Hawk for the iPhone? I don't know if that will work. But, here I am, the person who just bought Myst for the IPhone even after complaining about its size and drawbacks.

I noticed a distinct lack of being able to manual.

That actually looks better than the Playstation version graphically.

The controls seem like a good idea in theory, but in practice I'm not so sure.

What I am sure about is that I want to go dig out my old copy of the game. Pro Skater 2 and 3 were the really great Tony Hawk games for me and that trailer's given me a wave of nostalgia for them.

Please stop including Mad World in trailers.

Funny how Hawk has full stats for everything

THPS2 is my favorite game of the series. But the controls look kinda shitty so i'm not sure if i am gonna get it.

If the controls work well (doubt it) then it would be one of the best iPhone games yet. If not, then I will bust out my Playstation and play a little. Game was awesome.

I don't know why people are trying to make games like this for the iPhone. These games need exact controls, IE, buttons, the touch screen just doesn't provide that.

Thats the best kind of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater.
