Leading a panel at BlizzCon this afternoon, Blizzard creative VP Chris Metzen just announced that Tricia Helfer of Battlestar Galactica fame will be the new voice actress for the Zerg's Queen of Blades herself, Sarah Kerrigan. Helfer is kind of double-dipping in the real-time strategy genre here, given her recent appearances in Command & Conquer 3 and its expansion. Fans have been speculating about who would play Kerrigan for a while now, so there's your answer. Star power!

Who was the original voice actor anyway? I always thought she sounded a bit like Jeri Ryan.
Kinda sucks for the voice actor who voiced Kerrigan in the original Starcraft.

What exactly is the point of having her do the voice work for this game, other than being able to tell geeks "look, cute girl with boobies! you want to buy this NOW!"?

it seems like none of the original things are being carried over from the first game. not even the designers.

Judging from the cinematic trailer released a few days ago, I think the voice is fine.
