Frozenbyte's medieval 2D/3D platformer Trine, which lets you swap between three character classes on the fly to solve environmental puzzles and looks pretty sweet doing it, is suddenly available now on Steam. The game had been expected to release on PC as late as July 10, but forget about all that now. There's also a PSN version in the works, but we're currently awaiting word about exactly when that version will go up. You can nab the PC version for $29.99 now, or wait it out to get the PlayStation 3 version for 10 bones cheaper at $19.99.

(The game is published by SouthPeak on the PC, and Nobilis on the PS3. If that weren't confusing enough, Atlus has recently announced it will release the game on Xbox Live Arcade, though that version is said to be several months away.)

Here's a trailer to give you an idea of what Trine is about--or, you know, you could just go download the demo and try it for yourself. For the squeamish among you, we'll be back with a review of the full version soon.

Anybody already grab the full version? What do you think of it so far?

Garnett Lee seems to be having some trouble with it, but if it works I may pick it up. It looks super awesome.

I played the demo for this. It was pretty fun. And the visuals were gorgeous.

Sounds awesome, loved the demo but is it worth 30 bucks?

I really loved the demo, but I'm doubtful about the £19.99 price tag. Apparently there's about 8 hours of gameplay, which makes it decent value, you often don't get that much from a $60/£45 retail game, but money is tight at the moment, and when I can buy Fallout 3's 60+ hours of gameplay for £13.50 from the steam weekend sale, trine looks like terrible value relatively.

Until there's a steam deal cutting off at least 10 bucks this is a no go for me. Don't think its worth a full 30 bucks but i could be wrong.

Looks awesome, but thirty is a little steep at the moment.  Might pick it up on the PSN, though.

While it might not be worth 30$, for me it is definitely not worth 30EUR. I'll wait for a weekend deal on this one, or possibly just pass altogether.

Looks pretty. Might be a blast, but no need to jump the gun seeing how I could get it $10 cheaper. Demo you say..

nice to see PC getting something first for a change. Getting really fucking old always seeing the PC version never getting mentioned or delayed like a year after the release.

the demo was excellent but there's no way i can justify getting it at this price. i'm gonna wait until it goes on sale or something.

Looks really fantastic.  I'll get it on PSN or for the PC when it hits 20 bucks.

The demo didn't convince me, I thought Icarian (NyxQuest now) was far better. Of course I played the full game on the latter. In the Trine demo I loved the visuals and the story telling but the actual level didn't do it for me. It wasn't really creative, hopefully the later ones are a lot better.

Yeah, the PC version is a bit overpriced at 30€. Perhaps 20€ and I'd bite.
