Full-motion fighting finally comes into its own.
Full-motion fighting finally comes into its own.
Giant Bomb super user of the moment, DemonLeo, sent me a link to "YouTube Street Fighter." It's essentially a full-motion video take on Capcom's fighting game, reenacted via stop-motion with action figures.

Like any good full-motion video game, it's kind of dumb, but also completely amazing. You'll click on buttons that are in the video to perform moves, which is handled by loading up different video clips. If you wait too long without hitting anything, you get beat down by the opposition.

You'll play as Guile, and you can fight Zangief, Dhalsim, or Honda. Actually, as of this writing, the first Zangief video is broken. But I worked over Honda pretty easily. Think of it as a big, video-based Choose Your Own Adventure book, with tons of branching videos. This had to take the movie's creator, Patrick Bolvin, kind of a long time to create.

Our hats are off to him! Actually, none of us wear hats. If we did, though, we'd totally take them off. This is awesome in a completely Prize Fighter or Scottie Pippen Slam City kind of way.

Bolvin also made this kick-ass video of Jazz fighting the General Lee. It's also notable for containing the "aaahahahahah... what fun!" Michael Madsen quote from the Yakuza voice sessions.

I checked that out yesterday on You Tube.  I thought it was badass.

Streetfighter Youtube is pretty much the prodigy of Clayfighters and the Sega CD if they were to breed. That Jazz vs. the General Lee video is just missing the Micheal Bay the high budget explosions and cubic penetration.

Really creative, must have taken ages to make though.

Wow, that was even easier and way more successful than my usual mad button mashing approach to fighting games. Fun!

I could see that concept end up on wii. Press button for scripted action, you win.

Creative. The essence of it's "programing" is the smae as playing tica tac toe against a computer.

If  street fighter 2 was a sega cd game it would be exactly like mortal kombat on sega CD/32x but with out the suckyness of it being  a mortal  kombat game and it would have good fighting gameplay that the mortal kombat games did not have and street fighter 2 did.

Better than the sega genesis and it still sucked.

Glad to point it out. And thanks for the "super user of the moment" bit! You made my day!

That was pretty awesome. Am I the only who laughed when E-Honda's stage was in the bathroom?

I'm glad it isn't MK the Sega CD...else there would be nealy 30 second (it seemed) loading times in between "Finish Him!" and the actual move.
